Pre-Paid electricty and rates bill has elect charge ?

I have had a prepaid electricity meter in two of my rental properties, and the rates bill this month has an electricity consumption of 11 units amounting to R6.16 inc. VAT

What the hell is this about?
 
Interesting - hope its not their way of charging people who bought tons of prepaid before the increase.
 
Just use less power to get free units and a cheaper rate. I do that and my electricity is R300 a month for a family of 3. We cook every night, have a heater etc but save where I can

I'm all for that, but how does it relate to the topic?
 
By unit do you mean a kWh? 0.50c is what I've been paying I dunno how long. Using conventional billing that is.

It must be kWh which works out to be 54c per unit.

The problem is that the meter is removed and a pre-paid one installed so there should no longer be electricity billed on the rates account.
 
I'm prepaid and my latest rates account (account summary dated last month) has no mention of electricity. What's the date of your account summary?

My electricity cuts when I get to 0, but could your's maybe have gone into negative?

Query it. Sometimes they municipalities take a wild guess. I received a Municipal bill for R180 of electricity use after having my shop converted to prepaid. Asked when they read the meter and they gave a date when the meter had already been removed for almost a month.

Query sent - will update with the response.

They also reflect a date when the meter was read on my bill :D
