Yes it is a free private server I host.
Initially it was just for my family and a few friends now we are looking to populate the realm with as many accounts as the line will handle.

All this while paying a premium to do so.....
I played online for over 3 years. Eventually sold my accounts and moved on.
Now i hear some of my friends kids are interested but cant afford the game. So guess what, im gonna put up a emu server and let them mess around on it. I'll even create a 5man death squad to assist in some of the instances. If theyre good at it and manage to make some solo process i'll get them a 6 month account so that the bug can sink its teeth. Chances are they will grow bored with it before then....

I played for 4 months on a private WoW server, watched a few friends play official servers, in the end I decided I don't like it.
In the end, I've realized I have better things to do in my time (new games, movies, etc) than play a MMO, but if I was to ever play an MMO again it would be EVE Online. That is the ultimate MMO in my books.

Pray tell Why I would waste my time farming achievements on some crappy server with allmost no interaction on lower levels with other players,a shiyat load of bugs and when you hit the jackpot your char's get wiped.
When I could be playing on a epic server with actual BG's a working econmy dozens of players. An Achievement system that's worthwhile to farm.Close to no bugs and best of all my characters won't ever get wiped.

if its about the money, pay direct by card and take out a 6month sub. u end up paying for just over 5months (just) and it works out at roughly R95 a month ie £47,14 or something like that. working at a rate of R12 to £1

Never had a wipe and i have been playing for over a year. All bg's work on the server..actually everything works so yet again you people have just had bad experiences!

Im not trying to sell you anything ..do what you want..im just sick of people who have never played on a good private server say that they are all crap because they arnt. Though i must say this one is probably one of the best because of the dedication by the staff.

2.4.3.. wotlk in january..they where the first private server to run wotlk but they keeping it on a test server till all bugs are removed unlike others that just expect you to play like that.
Thats why the server is so good..because they actually care about it and work there asses off.

2.4.3.. wotlk in january..they where the first private server to run wotlk but they keeping it on a test server till all bugs are removed unlike others that just expect you to play like that.
Thats why the server is so good..because they actually care about it and work there asses off.

There is one thing I dont really understand, this forum is pretty much one of the most active World of Warcraft threads in South Africa, and we pretty much *most* of the time discuss errrr WoW stuff ?? Firstly, if you are hanging out on a pirate server, so be it ... its your loss... but hell, what are you doing here, where we discuss wow issues which in most cases are 99.9999999 % not relevant to WoW pirate servers. What are the emu-guys + and girls doing here other than trolling??? There is nothing constructive they can add to the WoW gaming experience since they are not doing content everyone else is doing...
The only alternative solution I can think of, is if the Forum admins create a thread called Emu-WoW players where they can all chat about their Sunwell solo KJ killing experiences etc. But then again we would be encouraging pirating even more.

So true. On our server we have a lot of rogues/warlocks/mages/f$#%@rs lurking around the fortress between WG battles. It's becoming something of a passtime to deal with them. One interesting thing that happened is that I once randomly casted Typhoon while waiting and hit a stealthed rogue. I also like knocking lurking enemies from the towers and walls.

kindly stop being pathetic and pay a reasonable monthly sub to properly enjoy a game you clearly enjoy. i'm sure falling through mountains and having a total of 12 people occupying the entire WoW (with an average of 3 players per continent) isn't much fun ... it must take forever when your LFG especially when you've all rolled blood elf rogues.
oh and stop lying to yourself and everybody else on here by saying that your silly private server doesn't have bugs.

i've played on Crogges for a good long time, before moving onto legit blizz server, so i can give you some perspective..
see a lot of people play on these servers to get a feel for the game without any commitment, some make friends and stay.. some move to legit servers..whatever. me i moved coz i logged into a friends retail acc and was amazed that there was 10v10 wsg with no waiting time :)
but crogges is also big enough for a sense of community, so if u not crazy about pvp.. dont mind the odd bugged quest and can deal with badtempered serbians go for it..
but as i say.. a lot of people ding 70.. then move to retail, which surely cant be a bad thing for blizzard either, which is why i suspect they are not so quick to close these private servers down.

I used to be a private server player from way back in the day (2006-2007 round abouts). After the umpteenth time of a server shut down / server wipe and starting all over again, I decided to go retail. I have never looked back.
Blizzard not shutting down servers (free to play ones at least) is a smart move. Free advertising and a very good chance of future business as the free servers are being paid for by someone out of their own pocket, which doesn't last long. Most people don't see the point in "donating" to a private server when they can just pay for retail instead and get a better deal.
