This is nothing new. Matsu****a/Hitachi/Pioneer have run studies before and showed that Plasma looks better. Here it's in the figures and people - see that that the 1:50 000 contrast ratios bragged about by Bravia and Samsung screens is bollox - it's only 1:1450 or something similar in reality. I believe the Pioneer Kuro range can do up to 1:30 000 and that is considered true contrast not bollox dynamic contrast (1: 1000 000) from SONY/SAMSUNG.
The other thing is off centre viewing. Plasma is just so much better. I can view mine at any angle and the colour stays the same.

That is in short exactly what this article says. The Panasonic plasma measured a contrast ratio of 1:3500 whilst the LCDs were 1:1500.
Off-centre viewing was the other major plus-point for plasma.
In colour accuracy the Sony LCD and Panasonic Plasma were both pretty much spot-on.

Having finally looked at the difference between LCD and Plasma I can only conclude that Plasma is superior to LCD.Now I need to find a 32 inch Plasma TV.This is for my new men's den which is only 3 by 3 metres.This conclusion was reached by looking at various angles on all Plasma and LCD sets at Game.Furthermore the pub I drink at run Plasma TV,s which are exceptionally clear.
Ummm no, they weren't spot on. Sony was inferior to Plasma although it led in most tests, while Sharp had better colour reproduction off centre than SONY (not extended colour gamut) which I can accept considering Sharp is a premier Japanese company. They turned off the Samsung's LED display features too. Sharp was only outperformed because some of their features couldn't be turned off like with the Sony, although a high end AQUOS set is cheaper than a high end X series. Joe Sixpack will keep the features on though. In addition you had to turn off all the bull on the SONY to achieve the picture they managed to pull. Not to mention that you have to be virtually dead centre to get any acceptable colur reproduction with any of the LCDs.
Let's not kid ourselves here, SONY BRAVIA is NOT SONY QUALIA (LCos)
with its plasma like picture.
Moral is this, if you care about the picture - get a plasma until LCos, SED or (O)LED come out, otherwise any LCD will do.
Its true, plasma is the only way to go for best picture. If you don't mind second best, LCD (any-since they all suck in comparison) is OK.

Excellent read, Plasma's are cheaper option too, now the challenge is to find them...

According to the Sinotec website there 3 variants available 42inch, 47inch and my favourite the 63inch
Yeah, they scarce lately though, normally available at Makro. I see they got the 32inch LCD on special for R4.6k

Lol they comparing very high end Plasma TVs not cheap crap like Sinotec... even though Sinotec is a very decent TV these days... their plasmas are nothing compared to the Vierras or Pioneers Plasma range... You still need a full HD Plasma to get these results...

Not at all, I think the point of the comparison is to show that top end Plasmas out perform top end LCD by virtue of design.
By the same token a middle of the range Plasma would/should out perform a middle of the range LCD.
Whether or not Sinotec is a premium brand YET or not is immaterial and possibly a debate for anther thread...

Unfortunately, the only Sinotech 32" plasma that I can find is only SD

Tell you what I've never really noticed or cared what TV's my mates use but visiting some this weekend I could easily guess whether they using plasmas or LCD's simply by walking past the screen and noticing the picture change, remarkable...

Picked myself up the 32" LG Plasma at Game a couple of months back, but they are rare, Game only had 1 unit between all there stores in the PE area....
If you can pick one up i would definitely recommend it.
Compare it to the LCD's it will be displayed next to on high quality content as well as on lower quality (such as SD DSTV and over the air broadcasts), there you will notice that the plasma's handle lower quality feeds a lot better then the LCD's, while the colours just seem crisper on the higher quality inputs.
