hello men.
something happened this weekend to the 3g network and im smiling... i could never download at more than about 10KB a second... and then on sunday afternoon, with no improvement to signal strength, i can now download at a minumum of around 40KB. local or internat. even this morning at busy traffic time.

It will be good to get everybody's feedback on local and international throughput. There was a network upgrade this weekend that should affect everybody (in the positive sense).
fantastic voda3g. IM STILL YOUR HAPPIEST CUSTOMER
Thx ic/kvi!
And vodacom 2, although don't know it'll make much difference to me on GPRS...
v3g, have you noticed my post under "GPRS counter" thread??

yip, my opinion this "change" happened on fri night :) since saturday I have been performing some tests and things have got better, back to the speed in beginning jan
my best ever download speed on sentech was 10KB. THIS is more like broadband... we getting there guys.
so voda 3g is 4 times faster than sentech... he he
Bandwidth Envy !!!!
I am currently posting using Mweb dialup. My quality of service is dropping at a constant rate. Currently I have about 60 seconds before my card disconnects. I can sent a bit of data but I receive nothing. I live in Edleen, Kempton Park where the coverage map says good to excellent coverage. NO 3G, limited GPRS.
There were only 4 places where I could pick up 3G. (1) Festival Mall where I got my 3G card (2)LIW Denel in Centurion (3) Vodaworld (where everything worked perfectly) and (4) in the Fourways area where I got 4 bars. In Fourways 3G cut out so much that I had to go to GPRS to get a stable connection.
I have a brand new laptop (with latest version of the dashboard) and really sit in awe as I read some of your posts about download speeds and the ability to stay connected. In the beginning I was shocked about the possible extra charge for VoIP, but now I am greatful if I can just send and receive urgent text based emails. Yesterday I had to generate an urgent report for a client. It took me twice as long to send it than to generate it.
So today I made a choice between physically driving out to a 3G spot or to set up Mweb dialup again. I chose Mweb.
From the discussions I feel that things will only get worse. GPRS will get more congested. Timeslots are limited for 3G and as more 3G users join up they will experience the current GPRS problems (from the tech dude at Vodaworld).
Suddenly I feel like an idiot again. Here I am with a 1GB limit at the middle of the month with only 150MB used (and I really tried hard to use it). So I might end up using 300MB. Maybe I am alone in this, maybe there are other suckers out there as well.

Did the voda tech's check your signal? If not pm v3g and ask for help. If they did ask them to come check again.
yeah mate, you are bound to hear from voda3g pretty soon... they not going to ignore this issue

They did some good tuning.
downloaded a 5 mb file and the slowest speed was higher than 40kB/sec
:)
