Bloemfontein - Police rescued a 17-year-old Bloemfontein girl after she was raped repeatedly for hours by a gang of seven men, police said on Friday.

Captain Elsa Gerber said the girl could not get a taxi home on Wednesday night and decided to walk to Batho.

"Reaching the railroad (at Bloemfontein) at about 22:00 she was approached by a man who confronted her about a rape case she allegedly made in April against a friend of his."

Gerber said the man was apparently joined by six others who took her cellphone and money before they raped her.

Police said after the girl's ordeal at the railway line the seven men dragged her to a house in Batho where they apparently smoked dagga and kept on raping her throughout the night.

Gerber said two Batho police members responded to a tip-off and found the girl, together with her assailants, at the house on Thursday.

"She was immediately taken to hospital as she had already lost a lot of blood and was still not well," Gerber said.

The seven men were arrested and would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of rape and robbery.

Like I've said before on this forum, it'll never happen.

Our human-rights oriented society will never allow it.

This is how far we've come. A person may be raped, robbed and murdered here, yet we'll do everything possible to protect the rights of the individualls who commit these crimes.

In my opinion a person should forfeit his human rights once he commits certain crimes like rape and murder etc.:D
 
but if this is a democratic country is there not a way for there to be referendum on bringing back the death penalty?

Imagine we were living in a country full of Muslims. And that girl had an entire family of them. Now imagine what would be left of those men who raped her.

Answer?

Not much.

Maybe extreme religion belongs in a country where the government fails its people.

The problem is that in a muslim country she would also be stoned for her part in the rape. :rolleyes:

We need a functioning justice system. Cannot hang them if you cannot catch and convict them.

I know life is sacred and all, but I wouldn't miss those guys an awful lot if they had to go missing indefinitely. I also wouldn't feel too bad if I was responsible for their dissapearance.

Life is sacred and special and when people do things like this they should no longer be allowed to enjoy life.

If a mistake is made, the ones who performed the mob justice get executed themselves. Exceptions would just allow more competent criminals to avoid justice.

The Chief-justice Judge should have the power to allow death sentences.
Another judge should recommend it to the Chief-justice.. and he decides if its warranted or not.

The constitution is over-board and will never last in its state.. .sooner or later people are going to get sick of the criminals having more rights...
Either mob killings are going to increase... judges and lawmakers (politicians) assassinated... or eventually unrest or revolution

JMO... but there has to be a balance... if the scale tips too much... sooner the other side is going to hit back :erm:
