A KwaZulu-Natal taxi boss and his two bodyguards were shot dead on Friday morning and a woman and a 10-year-old boy were seriously injured in the attack

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Jay Naicker said Sbushe Khuzwayo, 40, chairman of the Folweni Taxi Association, was sleeping at his Mphusheni home near Amanzimtoti when a group of gunmen forced his bodyguards to knock on the door.

When Khuzwayo opened the door, the men opened fire, killing him and the two bodyguards, Thulani Zulu, 39, and Mfanukile Gumede, 35. The killers then fled on foot.

Two other victims, Slindile Mhlongo, 39, and 10-year-old Sfundo Khuzwayo, who were in the house, were wounded and rushed to hospital.

Naicker said they were in a critical condition.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport Alliance chairman Eugene Hadebe strongly condemned the brutal killings, urging taxi owners to be tolerant of each other.

Hadebe said taxi owners needed to learn to resolve their issues without resorting to violence, accusing some taxi bosses of being greedy and jealous.

"Some taxi owners just want to run the show. They get jealous when they see other taxi operators doing well. The government is giving jobs to the bus industry because of the continuous killings in the taxi industry.

"We hope that the suspects are arrested soon," he added.

They weren't shot or even killed, they were "slain".

Christ, journalism has gone to the dogs.

In every group of maggot-infested impoverished people, there are a select few calling the shots, running the show and living the good life. Taxi bosses, squatter camp bosses, etc.
 
This is funny... in a way i don't feel sorry for them cause they work the taxi drivers into the ground for a little bit of money.

It's simply shocking, the way a squatter camps works. How they pay for rent, protection from other gangs, etc. And there's always a tribal "leader" with his little army.

People think a squatter camp is unorganized chaos. They couldn't be more wrong. Same story with taxis. The guy behind the wheel has to pay his dues. Pay the most powerful of the taxi bosses and you get to stick a certain sticker on your taxi that shouts "Stay teh fusks away from me."

If another taxi driver picks up your fares, he gets into knee-deep ****. If a small taxi boss sends goons after you, the bigger taxi boss has the goons killed, their families raped and kills the other taxi boss. And everything is hidden under a blanket of super high crime rate.

It's so organised it's.....beautiful.
