Zille rejects Merc for a cheaper car

Eish she has no taste. Then again 2nd hand Merc represents her position in the power pecking order

/Sarcasm off

This is the difference between the DA and the ANC:

DA -> We are here to serve the people.

ANC -> The people are here to serve us.

Zille FTW!

And CT Mayor, Dan Plato, will keep the Toyota Prius he inherited from Zille. Massive difference between +/- R175000 second hand Prius and 2x R1 100 000 BMW 750i's.

Nicely done, Zille!

Where are all the ANC numbnuts? Look. See the logic? Make sense? Didn't think so. :D

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has asked for a cheaper official car after discovering that her hired Mercedes-Benz is costing taxpayers R15 000 a month to hire.

Big up?

WTF are you people smoking, with all the kuk about cars she knew it was only a matter of time before someone picked up on her 15k a month car.

That is flippin crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How is that any different to what these anc okes are doing?

15k a month!!!!!!!!!!!! My Goodness that could get a rather nice house, it is hired as well so they are paying 15k a month for a car that they will never own!!!!!!!!

Crazy and what a waste of money. What did she only now figure her car was excessive? Man she must be doff to not have seen how much her car was costing a month. If she wanted to show anything she would have gone and taken a cheaper car like toyota, ford etc. Guess she will settle for a merc then anyhow :D

I know you're just trying to stir up ****... but try to do a better job in future!

Shortly after taking office, Zille's provincial cabinet unanimously agreed not to buy luxury new cars - despite being permitted to under current government guidelines.

Instead, Zille reluctantly accepted a Mercedes from the government garage - a relatively modest second-hand E200 model, which the government garage provided.

So that's another ANC fail, then.

To be fair though, it's also a Zille fail for trusting the government to have purchased its crazily expensive cars, instead of renting them! :)

Yup, she's just another politician....doing what people inspect, rather than what people expect :)

Personally I dont get the big fuss about car expenses, while these politicians influence spending of multi-billion rand budgets. But because our little minds can only comprehend how someone spends their car allowance, we remain ignorant about the wasteful spending of the multi-billion rand budgets.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga should get nailed not for spending R800k on a car, but for blowing R800m on school infrastructure that never gets to the intended recipients.

Good point, but the car expenses aren't so much about the money, it's symbolic.. it's about the hypocrissy of speaking socialism and living the high life at the expense of everyone else.

Sure. But lets not leave this as an 'easy avenue' for ministers to comply with, and forget about keeping them accountable for the really big things
