Telkom modems just suck... in the last 2years I went through about 5 modems from telkom... Its just a waste of money. Everybody said the Billion would fix all my problems but the thing cant even stay connected for more than an hour without restarting. I've been having the problem for about 3 months but after reseting the device it would work for about a week but once I start adding port forwarding or even change my ISP settings It cant stay connected.

I will try and take it back to Telkom today... will let you all know if the help me.

not pointing a finger at u and not praising telkom in any way but I had a mega100 for the past 2 years not a single problem. All I am saying maybe there is something else wrong give more details maybe some tech on this forum can help if not a tech at telkom

What do you need?

Currently using Windows 7 the ISP is Telkom. The only other thing connected to the Router is a Xbox 360.

I get about 10 restarts a day now. If some Tech can help let me know. It will save me a lot of time. (I'm really note in the mood for Telkoms "B.S")

sync speeds snr and attenuation rates is a good start also filters needs to be correctly installed also is there noise on your line

If the router physically reboots it could be because it's on a multiplug. Try moving it to it's own wall socket to see if it improves.

maybe its your line. By restarting do you mean dropping sync?

It dose'nt just drop sync the Router restarts.

The filters are installed... I have also tested it without the filters. As far as the line goes Telkom Claims that the line is fine.

Yes it is on a multiplug, But its always been on a multiplug why do I get reboots now?
But I will give you option a try if Telkom gives me lip today. I am at work now so I cant test it now.

But I will let you guys know.

I just got back from the Telkom Shop in Cape Town they would not swop out my Router as its 2 months(almost) out of warrenty. So now Im stuck with this thing... It looks like im going to have to cancel my ADSL as I dont have a working Router. I guess I should have never gotten a Router from Telkom. It's sad... I'm going to miss my internet time.

I will try all you're tips and if by some divine intervention the Router works for more than 2hr I will let you know by Friday.

The funny part is that I asked them If I am expected to get a new Router every year and they just said "thats what happens to the them"?

The sad part is now I dont have the cash for a NON telkom modem. But if I sell this one!!

****News Flsh Super Sale Now On****
Anybody want to buy a Helkom Modem?

If you have a filiter/spliiter on the line try replacing it or plug Router directly to wall socket without any other phones.faxes etc attached as the filiters are known to give the ghost for no rhyme or reason

Firstly, I will like to know which firmware version you are using because that might be the problem! One other thing that you can try is to change your ADSL mode to ADSL 2+.
To change this you can login to the router's GUI with the IP address of the router

1. You have to connect a physical (LAN) cable to the router and to your computer.
2. Open up your web browser and type in your router’s IP address to open the router’s
GUI. The username and password is “admin”.
3. Once you are in the interface of the router click on configuration > WAN >
ADSL>then change the connection mode to ADSL 2+ Auto-fallback and
make sure that the activate line is set to True. You can try that and if you need any
further assistance, please send an email to [email protected]

The firmware is default one. If I remember correctlly it's v552f.069. I will try the steps you gave and will post a reply here. I will email if I need be. And thanks for taking time to read my post.

I have connected to it's own wall socket and no phones & no filter connected.
System up time is currently 15min and I already had a restart.
I checked it is on ADSL 2+ Auto-Fallback & active line is True.

I will let it run for about an 1hr and see... hold thumbs for me:rolleyes:

System Up-Time 01:21:30s

Connected time so far 00:22:48s

its only 22min because I tested 2 different accounts.

When it hits 1hr I will reconnect phones and filters and see if it works.
