and they loveeeeeeeee to say that we are all equal. ha!

About 300 people were killed during a massive landslide in southern Taiwan that wiped out an entire village. This follows a massive typhoon that struck the eastern Asian countries this past week.

What a sad, sad story. Now imagine what a massive headline this would've been if the landslide happened in the US...

That's strange, this week in one of the papers here it said the villagers actually made it to higher ground and were all safe, unless this is a different landslide?

Edit: Ignore me...different slide...

Never mind that BBC has it as their top story, and the New Your times has it on the front page. As long as News24 doesn't count it a big story we have proof that the some i.e. US are more equal then others?

Anyway, which news agency says what about this is really not important. It is really a sad time for those effected and I think we're all better served thinking about them, or sparing a moment of sympathy for them.

Sadly I have a feeling that these kind of things may become more common. Can't say why, just a feeling.

Yeah it's sad how the media decide who's lives are more important than others. On the flipside though, if Dubya was still in power he would declare war on Mother Nature.

Odd I've seen plenty of coverage of this. I guess anything is game to have a go at the U.S

We're very fortunate we don't suffer such extreme weather. Especially given the criminal incompetence of the ANC

I don't think anyone is having a go at the U.S., its more of a go at the way that the media focuses on some issues more than others depending on what country/demographic you live in.

Well a media outlet is always going to focus more on the area it is based.
