After 17 years my best friend has passed away

He survived being lost miles from home( thanks to the vet) for weeks before finding his way home, misdiagnosed with diabetes, numerous house moves, cat fights, the dreaded dog and even a flight aboard a plane to bring happiness to me, my family and friends. A more loyal companion I have yet to come across. But today he could go on no longer. Still a week longer than his nemeses the vet had said he would. His final defiant gesture

Goodbye Tiger :(

Dude... very sorry to hear about this. Argh, it's a terrible thing to have to do.

Sorry to hear the news :(

My cat died when she was 15 (human) years. It was a rather sad occasion. And the worst thing is that it just happened suddenly. She was playing with the other cat on that morning and then one hour later, our family saw her just lying on the verandah...totally still. I suspect it was a heart attack.

Thanks for the kind words. Keep getting flashbacks to when he was born in my cupboard or the night he woke me up covered in dirt after I'd given him up for last after he'd been missing for 2 weeks. He passed on this morning and I was okay until 5 minutes ago :o

Argh I hate reading threads like these at work - I get so upset :(

Sorry to hear :(

Sorry to hear that, its never nice to loose a pet. I had a kitten that wasn't even a year old, and it got bitten by a snake one morning. RIP

Sad indeed to say goodbye to a pet. They're close members of the family. :(

My folks had two sister cats from before I was born and they lived to be 19 and 20 years old respectively. Was very sad to see them go. The day my German Shepherd moved on busted me up more than I was prepared for.

RIP Tiger

I'm crying...:( bye bye Tiger! We'll see you in heaven.

R.I.P. Tiger.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh lord. I hope this thread doesn't degenerate into something PD-esque.

"There's no animal heaven, lol" :p
