You're very optimistic. However, € 299 = R 3 400 before shipping and customs! So, I wouldn't count on it. Would be nice though.

Don't care much for the console price, as I have 1 already. Rather cut the prices of the games!!!!!!

Both consoles for $299. Now the competition begins. Will the arguement that you are paying more for WIFI, Bluray, etc still hold with the PS3?I love it when this happens since a PS3 price drop will also push Microsoft to adjust their pricing....
err...wait...Seems like the Elite is already pushing the $299 price mark
Very unlikely but with MS removing the pro console and bringing down the price on the Elite you never know what's gonna happen. Thing is most Xbox units sold aren't the Pro/Elite variety but Actually the $179 Arcade so if MS decided to drop the price on that 2 like for say $150 or god help us $99 (for Xmas) then you already know what's gonna happen.

If it does come to such a price, xbox owners can replace one every 2 years.
If the 70% cost reduction is actually true, then I also foresee something coming from Sony for xmas. Either way, we should be getting some great deals coming this xmas!
