I set up a new Omnia for a customer last week, having a Weekend package myself I can only dream, and hug my trusty E51 :) Pay in is about R3 500 if I want to upgrade, so I was quite surprised to see this deal at Nashua Mobile! Only applicable to new contracts, but still, seems to good to be true. Probably is E&OE....]

Edit: Select Weekend from the "Get a quote" wizard and then Samsung I900 8gb Promo and click next. "Cost of phone: Free"

hmmm, if you click weekender it gives you those phones in the list, but if you click on the phone it says its not available on those packages

Just thinking, I used to like this phone, but the new replacement Omnia II is about to be released and so is the Omnia HD, which makes the Omnia dated now, they should have made this special available much earlier.
 
ya ive had an omnia for like over a year already :P

but if you buy the best when it comes out, it seems you still have a near top phone a year later !
 
Point taken, but as you say, you have had yours for a year now, so if I take it now on a new 24 month contract the phone will be almost 4 years old in two years time.

Sounds funny, but I am referring to the model :D

Whereas waiting for the new Omnia II or HD makes more sense.
 
well it will only be 3 and a bit years old here :P i got it a few months after launch.. depends on your preference. but very nice phone once your used to it. i probably can type faster on the touch screen then most on "normal phones"
 
Just a quick question, how do you find html formatted emails on the Omnia, is it supported natively, or does it use the web browser to render the email?

How does it compare to desktop client presentation?
 
WOW! that seriously must be a mistake. Can't be. Never in this lifetime!


EDIT: Even with MTN Anytime 200 and the Samsung i900 8GB Promo = R212.70 Which really can't be. Its too cheap to be true.

Sure, the Omnia successors will be out soon, but you'll have to pay a high pay-in, even on high contracts. So if you have the money and budget for that, why not wait for it?

The question here is, can you get another phone as good as this for free on a "Weekender" package? The only other phone that comes to mind is the Nokia 5800. So, for someone on a budget looking for a good Weekender package, do you get a "later" phone with half the features of the Omnia, or get the +1 year old Omnia with a decent set of features? The choice is yours.
 
I agree with your wisdom, it makes sense :D

I already have the Nokia 5800 but have been disappointed with the poor html formatted email support. Native client is text based and shows the html as an attachment, and fails to display html emails completely, even the 3rd party Profimail is not great either :(

So if anyone who has this phone (Omnia i900), how do you find html formatted emails on the Omnia, is it supported natively, or does it use the web browser to render the email?

How does it compare to desktop client presentation?

Only phone that has the ability to present html formatted emails same as desktop client is the iPhone?

Just called Nashua Mobile and they have confirmed that the info on their Website is wrong.

Is that not misleading advertising?

If you go to:

get a quote on Omnia i900 - VC Weekender per sec

it says _free_ for the phone, but they said definitely not valid :rolleyes:

I guess they believe you may take something else if you were drawn to their site by these false statements :(

Well, if you click on the link in this thread it shows this error message, but if you go to "get a quote" and select the Weekender package and Samsung I900 8GB promo, it still shows that it's free. But it probably is an error.:(
 
Well, they have been notified of the error of their ways, by me :D

Strange thing is that they have not even bothered to fix it, the person I spoke to went to the site while I was on the phone and saw it and then said it was not valid :rolleyes:

Maybe it is being used as a drawcard ??

Hmmm... that's possible. You apply online, a consultant phones you informing you there's a mistake, and then offers you another phone! I experienced that twice, with Smartcom and MTNDirect. And you can't fight with them, you'll get nowhere. E&OE - always the case.
 
If they have been informed of the misleading and incorrect information on their website, does this not put the onus on them to arrange to correct the incorrect information as soon as possible?

They have been informed and if they do not make the changes then one can only assume that this is shoddy business practice :(

It does become a bit of a pain after you have registered all your information in the application process only to find that the phone information is invalid.

I still feel that this is misleading, and probably deliberate since it is still unchanged more than five hours after being duly informed about the incorrect information :eek:

UPDATE: The info has been corrected on their website.

The Omnia i900 is no longer FREE on VC Weekender per Sec :(
