NAFCOC files papers against ICASA'S DTT

10 years before we get DTT in this place, and 20 years before we can buy a digital TV set so they can rape the public with their STB's. :sick:
 
Its all a mass ploy, conspiracy stories start... What the point all the current players have to distribute their signals on two bands so that they incur double cost where the new players in the market will only distribute on the digital signal... ICASA, is trying their best to get the DDT service up, but all anyone see is monopoly.

If Mnet is able to do it, let them its their given right to move over and on to new technology, why must everything in this country be followed with lawsuit after lawsiut, just because of BBE, i say if the BBE companies are at the means drop the case, file for space on a spectrum and start broadcasting, stop holding up change it going to happen.

Sorry if that came out a little wrong, but its the truth....

So what are they trying to say? Some startup BEE company should get the channels, not the established company that we know can make good use of them?

Like Eskon and their BEE coal supplies? We all saw how well that worked out :rolleyes:

When has ICASA ever done ANYTHING positive for broadband in SA? Name one thing?

When did they ever do anything to sort out the broadband? So how can we get them back to what they were never doing in the first place?

Icasa is the butthole of Telecoms in SA. No wait, they're like the dingleberry of Telecoms in SA. Useless, absolutely useless.
 
Oh wait, ICASA got mentioned. They're gettin sued? Oh, business as usual then... Another feather in the cap of the clue-less-mobile then.

I'm getting real tired of the assumption that those who have proven to be capable must ALWAYS (and without fail) step back for a BEE 'party' that does/does not exist.
We saw what happened with the new licenses not too long ago, even the mighty telkom pulled out in the end. What makes them so sure that a BEE company (or any other company) can actually stand up and compete with MNET at this stage?

I'm actually dissapointed that SABC received 100% of a multiplex 1 when they are obviously incompetent. Rather take ICASA on that point, makes more sense to me.
 
icasa jump to the tune of the gov and bee is a waste of time, besides why does mnet need space there? aren't on satellite these days?
 
ICASA are a pure joke, no doubt, but these NAFCOC grapes are really quite sour ...
 
I am afraid with all this fighting there isn't much chance of getting our airways in order. ICASA needs to get off its toosh and start constructively get the South African house in order. But maybe is a legacy of the former comms minister? I was really hoping the new guy would be being a little more proactive?
 
FFS the best way to transmit television signals is via satellite and that is what M-Net has been doing for the last 15 years. Wasting more spectrum and money on terrestrial TV transmission is really stupid. Why pay R700 for a DTT STB when you can get a DST STB for halve the price ?!?

Doom and failure to terrestrial TV transmission !
 
eTV lies, they are anything but Free to Air. I would have said, go eTV but they are not FTA. Once you get your decoder you will not see anything, even SABC will requires a subscription type card. Turning your built-in dvb-t antennas in new TVs useless. :(

Now, where on earth have I heard that one before? ICASA participating in and promoting anti-competitive behaviour. No. Really?
