Post Office strike continues

Thousands of protesting Pretoria post office employees gathered outside the City Hall on Tuesday to voice their concerns over wage discrepancies, the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) said.

What a racist !!!
"We are marching to the post office head office over salary imbalances in the company because the company is paying employees based on their race. If you're black you get a different salary, if you're coloured you get a different salary," he said.

The salaries are performance based you twit! Why did you now have to go and put hard working blacks in a bad light ?

Does anyone know how international mail delivery (out of SA) is affected by the strike?
I was at our local PO the past Friday and it was open. Not knowing about the current strike, I posted a document destined for Italy.....It obviously is going to get held up now but I should probably know by now that SAPO is only reliable when it comes to delivering bills :-|

I have a few items bound for the UK and Europe and they have been stuck at Cape Mail for the past week...

When the lady at the counter warned me I thought: hmmm should I rather use DHL....pay R200 for an envelope...hmmm....
Then I said: How many stamps do I need? :)
My A4 envelope to Italy cost R35 but in some case R200 seems cheap when you consider the risk of stuff getting lost....

Correction, one of the parcels I mailed to the UK on the 19th arrived there a few minutes ago. So it seems that we are not affected down here in the Cape.

I have never (touch wood) lost anything when sending stuff with the South African Post Office - domestically or internationally.
