I think just about every nation in the world now has threatened to cut off the File Sharers or give them three strikes or whatever. Haven't actually seen much of it happening. It is all part of the MAFIAA's publicity war to make File Sharers out to be worse then murderers and rapists. They also want the police to stop chasing the murderers and rapists and sit on the internet all day looking for the "real criminals". Meanwhile the "File Sharers" have temporarily switched servers and clients and are happily downloading District 9 and G.I. Joe somewhere else on the Internet.

Seriously, the only way to fight piracy is through price and distribution.

People will basically push their traffic underground (encrypted) and make it harder for the British government to do anything.

what about the basic legal principles of the presumption of innocence and to have a trial before a court?

Gary, that should be your sig ;)

Just one of my many brilliant and enlightened pieces of divine wisdom :p

@burn ... the MAFIAA are not interested in issues of legality and justice. If you listen to music or watch movies you are guilty. In fact... all of their customers are criminals! They would be much happier if people just gave them money and they didn't actually have to bother with the whole business thing.

I know! We could call it the Freedom Tax!

Yes, but the politicians making the law would have to consider this...

They are too busy considering the "gifts" that the MAFIAA keep giving them... using the money that they have gotten from suing people who were trying to find their favourite artists music online instead of having to pay 1/20th of their salary for the latest CD which is infested with DRM crap preventing them from listening to the music anywhere where the sun is shining or oxygen is present.

How many billions has the industry lost to the downloaders of MyBB. It is atrocious - truly a crime without parallel. Billions of Rands in lost revenue just from MyBB members alone and if we added all other BBSes like MyBB we'd find the cause of both the current recession but also the dot com bubble burst, Asian economic crisis of the 90s and the Great Depression. Oh the horror - oh the lost revenue - a Maybach per second gone - crack cocaine and hookers - private yachts and Leer Jets - how many these funds would buy - no-one knows for it is surely a great amount.
