how long does the bandwith meter take to update for you

I have downloaded a bunch of stuff since yesterday probably about 5GB and the bandwith meter is still saying I have only used 1.38GB and has been saying that since I connected about a 27 hours ago. So does this thing only update when you connect or does it do it at certain intervals during the day for you guys?
 
Seems to be updating every 5 minutes or so, did a couple of refreshes now on meter.
 
I did a reconnect this morning, and it got updated. Now, 6 hours later, it still says exactly the same ??
 
and in that 6 hours you could have gone way over your cap and then they expect you to pay for it.
 
imagine if your bank only updated your balance once a day and allowed you to withdraw any amount throughout the day and if you went over it you have to pay them for it... with interest
 
It will most probably throttle you from their system's point of view, but the update to the website does not appear to be that periodic
 
well no it doesn't throttle you immediatly either, even shaun green said he went over his 3gb by 2GB, so assuming he got average speeds (100KB/s) that 2GB excess would have taken 5.8 hours. I have been throttled once since the cap has been in place and that only happened when I had recconected, so it seems to check accounts flagged as capped only apon connection.
 
Then I reckon I should run my UTD and wireless router of a UPS, seeing that the only times I get reconnected is on a manual reset

slimothy is the 64K guarenteed or contended when you are throttled?
 
yeah its not contended but they don't guarantee anythign either, again they use thier nice 'up to' prefix when talkign about speeds, but when I was capped I actually got speeds of over 64kbit, but yeah, its your own 64kbit line
 
As long as that doesn't change when they start adding more customers to the fish pond, I wonder if the target is still 15000 by year end...
