hopefully heaven but probably hell
SO I was bored and on the iBurst.co.za forums and somene said this and I paraphrase

'All users are being moved to a new system. All users should be moved by midnight. They had an option to either stpo the bandwidth or throttle us.'

okay cool...

Shaun said to me and I also paraphrase.

'We have no idea whats wrong, the towers all went down this morning and ever since then the network has degraded. The techincal guys cant find anything wrong with the towers or the system so we thinking it might be outside our control.'

okay cool

so um... which one is the correct story'' I wonder?

actually I wrote that post and I basically copy and pasted from somethign someone said in the throttled? thread I believe, so if its wrong... sue me

yeah... well its only been a day... if it doesnt get sorted out in 30 days then it's time to worry... I honestly think it's UUnet's fault cuz judging from what guys are saying who are using ADSL from UUnet they are having the same problem...

I wish iBurst were allowed to just have their own freaking cables out the country... Now that would ROCK!!!

I can handle many things, but I'm not a mushroom...

When I need darkness I'll switch off the lights
When I need bullsh1t, I DON'T need WBS

And still no incident reports, we'll probably hear that nothing was wrong. Wonder when they consulted George Orwell?

Or at least let them have an alternative, albeit satellite that is slower, and can always be used for traffic that's not too lag sensitive.

I have this conspiracy theory.

Maybe somene is sabotaging all these wireless companies. I mean Sentech lost half their user base in two months due to a degraded service and as far as I can tell it never did regain... seems to be getting worse from what people tell me.

Here comes iBurst... The fourth day after launch and bam... crappy speeds...

I mean wtf'? maybe one should just go with the people who own the pipes leaving the country... but no I will not support the evil...

Comeone iBUrst why so quiet on this forum when **** hits the fan... I cant even do Virus Signature updates...

That's obviously their intention... And then gain superficial popularity...

That's also why I won't go with Vodacom for cell phone or 3G service...

Telkom own 50% of Vodacom... which is why 3g is probably working out so well...

grr... who wants to take down Telkom the old fashioned way?
FSCK politcal corporate tap dancing...

I say stinger missles... hand grenades... AK's... whiskey and lesbians...

and we blow em to kingdom come... then we put Slimothy at the reigns... er.. wait... he would use the 400Gb lines for himself... hrm... fsck it we let WBS take the reigns...

hrm...

I havent thought this through..

... but still: why does WBS keep quiet and not post anything to let their users know that there is a problem and some kind of ETA?

i dont know at what concerns me are the two stories...

When I spoke to Shaun he honestly had no idea what was happening. This was at like 15H30... and the problems started in the morning. Then I saw the other story floating about... so who knows...

it's just pathetic that they dont send a mail to their customers or something just to SAY we are aware of the problem.

they did give an eta if you bothered to call, midnight all users should be on the new managment system, my speeds are back to normal now

i would phone if I could phone but Telkom's lines have failed so I will take your word on it... When did you phone Slimothy out of interests sake... cuz maybe when I spoke to Shaun there was a plan put into action afterward?

It wouyld be cool if they put this on their new site though.

Not back to normal but up from 32kbps to 150kbps.

Network status page now reports radio network degraded in JHB.

that was a rumour, only one person actually said that wbs said it was uunets fault, however in #iburst 3 people heard the story about wbs moving users to a new managment system by midnight and some of us are already moved and then 2 people mentioned the same story here, so I don't think wbs actually said it was uunets fault
