Yeah if retailers follow the same trend as last year with the Xbox, its going to drop and then rise again so now is the time to buy!

Was the rise in xbox price not due to rand dollar exchange? I assume when the Arcade was picked up for dirt cheap. The price of R2600 for arcade in my opinion is expensive for what you get.

aww man.....ive only had my xbox for 2 months and now this :p
man all i know is when i go to any game store - there are 3-4 times more xbox games still....i just hope Sony pump out the games like theyve dropped the prices...then its obvious what il ask Santa to get me

Maybe you should check online stores instead? Places like Zaps offer some good games at good prices. Also they are based in Randburg or get them to deliver for about R50. Alternatively 2nd hand games like gamexchange in Edenvale offer very good value for money. The conditions of their games are really good.

Its quantity vs quality!

Well my Xbox360 just red-ringed, guess who's buying a PS3 next.....as cool as the Xbox experience and games might be, it's truly unacceptable to have hardware as flimsy as this..really my PS2 is 5+ years old and again, guess what i'm playing on now while my Xbox is dead? PS2 ...still running...

..and i'm not even going to go into the whole Xbox Live bullcrap [which is not even officially supported in South Africa]. I think Gamespot mentioned it in a recent podcast of theirs and said , if you are a casual gamer and want to play the odd multiplayer thing, the Xbox360 is not for you as you need a Gold Subscription , in contrast..PS3's service is free . Since both consoles prices are now finally "in line" , it is becoming extremely hard to justify certain Xbox "penalties" we lived with due to the console being cheaper...

Now i can understand if Microsoft want to charge for the Live Content [music/movies/demos/etc etc] , but seriously the multiplayer part of the games you OWN ? Bad News.
