Is it harder these days to break into the employment sector? or is it just that the worst times ever are the ones you are experiencing at the moment?

Anycase, which career sites should i visit? I have some graduate programs that i can apply for, but that only kicks in next year. Looking to get some cash before that starts(if im lucky enough to succeed in those programs).

I've tried bestjobs.co.za, iolsjob.co.za and careerjunction.co.za among others.

it's tough times at the moment. try calling up some agencies.

tell us what u studied? Experience etc?

Got BSc Math/Stats. Will probably have to do a statistical job of sorts which i abhor, but its all about the money i guess. Why didn't i do comp sci, all i ever see is "developer needed...."

Have two years working experience as a techie at a biggish cape town cctv/it firm.

Also, wrote this "dummies guide to investing", you guys think it's overkill to add it with the CV for those types of companies?

It's alot harder these days. I've been trying for the pass 3 months without any luck :( also applied to quite a few graduate programs that unfortunately only start next year . You could try recruitment agencies.
Kelly.co.za
Communicate.co.za
There are plenty of others around.

Erm... "its all about the money i guess"? It's not.
It does play a part, but it should be for the love of your job, not the money. That is a vital key to success.

suppose i had to add "... for now". trust me if i could do maths all day for the rest of my life I'd be a happy chappie. Thing is, im competent enough to do either stats or maths post grad, but i have to make my mind up. Focussing only on maths, there are a PLETHORA of disciplines, each one unique and possessing implications that can change the world. I probably have to work for a year to get the feel of a discipline before i can make up my mind, time tho isn't on my side...

In the mean time you can do your Honours->Masters->and hopefully PHD

You are never too old to study, but the sooner, the better.

Yeah i would love to. Targeting masters by 30. If not, well i tried my best. Just dont want to be stuck doing something i like academically but will loathe in the working sector. That's why i want to test the waters.

Probably will not matter either way. There's this guy i know who did MSc Engineering, and ended up being a fisherman. Before you lol, he exports fish overseas and makes millions a year.

Thats what I thought before I started working. Now, for me, its much more important what I'm actually doing for 8 hours a days at work. If you hate your job it will have a negative effect on you.
