How the F@CK do these guys do math? I bet you they don't even calculate the bandwidth correctly, i.e 1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte, 1024kb = 1mb, 1024mb = 1gig

They just round everything off. Meaning, if you had 90mb uploads, and 2.90gig download, they'll cap you. WHAT ABOUT MY LAST 10 MEG YOU STOLE WBS!

FFS, their incompetence (rather the people who developed their software) is beginning to shine through....

well seeing as the guys who coded the system are um programmers and that the 1024 thing is common knowledge I'd say they did code it to factor that stuff in

just because someone is a "programmer" means !squat! You get programmers, good programmers and pretenders

well you obviously think you're the good programmer. Basically to score a contract for WBS you can be sucky (though probably average is my guess) but rest assured the people that coded that system do know how large a GB is (1024 MB) and do know all that other crap people liek to spit to sound liek they know crap (8 bits to a byte 1024 bytes to a KB etc.) even crappy scripters know that stuff.

And the joke is that the UDT has been switched on for the past 2 days but not even connected to a pc. So according to this your overheads is 0.21MB per day that counts towards your cap.

Lets not shout guys. We are repairing all problems.
That is why the weeks lead time has been given to us by the engineers.

Keep cool

Shaun

since i get first post can I just say I don't think people should attack shaun when he participates in the forum, thats what we want isn't it? ok i'm done, let it begin

Yeah I agree slimothy. Half the people just want WBs to join in so they can have a war of words with them. Quite honestly we should have one spokes person such as IC and a single thread so that jsut shaun and IC can post in it, that way the posts done get turned into a war of words and such and something constructed can come out!

Shaun your interest and contribution to the forums is much appreciated, thank you and please continue to do so.

Nice idea, but will you give us an assurance that WBS you always be on this forum for such a thread. I remember 2 months back ic had some calculations comparing WBS representation on this forum with that of v3g, and the numbers were not on WBS's side.

Shaun, would like to know what the problem is please. This has to be a good sign, if you rock up here it means that the problems are sorted out or very close to it. True?

Hmmm, this is where I get worried, don't get me wrong it's not a bad idea, there are however some issues:
  1. Is 'ic' really the most appropriate person to represent the views of every iBurster forumite...? Don't forget that I am hardly objective about all this - I am also a suffering customer with an admittedly jaded view of all this - remember that what "some%" of iBursters have been experiencing since Tuesday, I have had this now since January, and I am really fedup. And no I cannot drop WBS iBurst and go back to dialup bcos ADSL is not yet an option and MyWi will never be an option due to no coverage. And 3G or EDGE don't offer me enough GBz for my bucks. That's reason enough why I didn't really want to be part of the 5..8 that meet with Shaun down the pub for drinks - I cannot possibly represent the views of every iBurster forumite and be objective about it. (Apart from the fact that I'm snowed under as it is ;))
  2. Next there is a logistical problem, sure I can lock a thread so that only mods can post on it, but Shaun is not a mod, and if I simply post quotes of statements Shaun communicates to me, there will be some that will question whether those were really Shaun's words, and while I don't mind if my integrity is questioned, it certainly won't help inspire confidence in the whole process.
  3. Prior to Vodacom3g, and MTNBroadband participating in the respective MyADSL/MBB forums, there was a lot of unrest from forumites. The moment v3g & mtnbb started participating and engaging forumites with clarifying questions as well concrete answers, the unrest dematerialised completely.
  4. My final point is that this is a forum for discussion, i.e. many people engaging in discussion with each other, so limiting the discussion to just 2 people in a thread is contrary to the usefulness of a forum.
If WBS want good Karma, then they should make an effort to engage their customers in active discussion, and I stress in the manner that those customers want the discussions to take place, i.e. not some really cr@ppy semi-attempt at a forum on the WBS/iBurst websites.

Well said IC,

time for WBS to grow up and act like adults do (i.e. MTN and Vodacom) and take a bit of responsibility, and face the music. Not play hide and seek with the occasional cooooweeee, and then run off to go to hide in anther place for a while.

Ditto IC good point.

How about this for an idea wbs. Instead of duplicating a forum on your web site, how about providing a link to MyAdsl on your web page??

Shock and horrors i am sure you dont want too expose your customers to the nutters on this forum huh??

Well maybe the nutters would be so impressed that they might start saying nice things about you guys. Respect is a two way street. I get the feeling on here that a lot of people are feeling disrespected by the lack of communication. So post a link follow it up with some real input and my guess is your customers will have a lot more tollerance for the teething issues.

Who is shouting? And what the **** does the engineers have to do with the cap? Or is my theory correct, and WBS is deliberately slowing down because the cap didn't work and now we're paying R699???

I demand a refund for the month of April

Dude i agree with you...it looks like LG was correct with his theory, i got lovely speeds last night and up until 8 this morning....now look!

Your line speed is approximately 61 Kbps or 7.5 kBytes/sec

That is bull! How am i supposed to work like this? If this throttleing is supposed to try kill the 'power users' that are using p2p to the max then fine...but i am here trying to work! I asked for broadband because 56K is too slow for what i do...i suggested going with iburst for the 1MB Connection now i look like an idiot...

PMSL - so true, and if it weren't ironically true I would've died laughing by now :D

What gets me is how WBS can think that ignoring their customers might be a good thing for them - some things just defy logic :(.

I wondered the same thing, I can only think that Shaun took offence at the title of the thread ;).

On a related note, does anyone know what the "part numbers" reference was about?
