New iBurst network is meant to be "better"?

Last week Friday iBurst officially launched their new network (apparently). Since then, I am continuously loosing connectivity for up to half an hour at a time, with about 10 incidences of this in one week.

And today....extremely bad connectivity - i can open web pages, but anything requiring a connection longer than a few seconds doesnt work (e.g. ssh, https, etc, etc).

Just spoke to a friend of mine having the same problems - so it seems like the new network infrastructure is a lot less stable than the old one.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues lately?

no not anyone.. EVERYONE

iBurst are having torubles with the whole network this week, they said it would be done with by monday although at night things are better, so you should be having better luck now

Im in the South, and ive had a horrible time with iburst, going in on monday to cancel. i was loyal to the launch, and they almost had it sorted out. now im loosing so much revenue due to the unstable service

Sorry about your losses Pan.

Contact me and at least let me facilitate your credit venture.

Shaun

Iburst starting telling people the 'slowdown' would last 'a week at most' on about tues/wednesday - so next wednesday is the final crunch time, according to Ibursts own promises and statements. Thereafter if the situation continues, they're Sentech Part Two.
So its 5 days and counting..
(Thought I'd just remind folks of IBursts promise.)

they havent actually put the 'slow down' on their website either...

denial? lack of communication? empty promises?

They are behaving the same way Sentech did but they seem to have accellerated this behaviour... as in only took 6 days after official launch.

There has not been a clear and consistent message.

There speeds are fine for me now so as always its the waiting game... russian roulette anyone?

they've put themselves on the block now, by giving a date when 'everything will be fixed'.
Sentech pulled this move as well, repeatedly.
But unlike Sentech, this time round, I seriously doubt people will stick around if IBurst start 'extending' the date when everything will be fixed.
We remember that story all too well.

Their accounts department should get rather busy soon, as customers decide to demand a reduction in payment - given that they havent been receiving the service they're paying for, for at least 4 days now, for some people.

didn't sentech loose something like half their user base in two months? I wander if people at WBS are aware that can happen to them? I certainly hope they sort their mess out by the date they promise... if not I dont think I will fight either... just leave.

I've downloaded constantly for the last 7 hours, it seems to average out at 5.8kb/s however, this is NOT consitant speed, goes up and goes down like a b1tch. Sometimes can't even open websites, and if i click on a link, i have to repeatedly click it in order for something to happen.

I sure hope this isn't what their cap is about, I at least expected constant 64k connection (im capped btw)

Waiting to see if responsiveness would improve for the cap. As its looking, Shaun is just trying to put out fires, he neither has an answer for us, nor a definate that it will be fixed.

I wonder.... with Telkom releasing their 1mb ADSL in June, they mentioned being "pleasantly suprised" at the pricing... and that their would be further relief for ADSL subscribtions... if by June I see Telkom REALLY (hahahahahahaha) suprises us with the pricing, i'd rather switch to something that works

I think the mass exodus started around August, I cancelled after witnessing a wave of cancellations, realising Sentech were never going to give what they promised. I was pretty much at the tail end of cancellations, so I guess it was around 2 months.

I suppose you could browse in the forum through that painful history :D

As we know, what eventually happened is that in October, they implemented a burst type of traffic management that worked fine for surfing, but not for anything else.

But what about the supposed 4000 customers ?
Of people visiting this forum, at most, it amounted to 50 people - did 2000 others cancel that we weren't aware of ?

This is becoming a major problem for me too, I recently took my UTD to a client to "demo" the unit as I wanted to show iBurst was better than the Sentech service they currently utilise, boy was that a mistake! Full signal, 5k downloads..

Rather embarassing, has anyone looked into the legalities of cancelling? Are we not bound to contracts etc?

Keeping my options open.

ARE you the guy that bitched to IBURST about ur looses, and they might give you money or something.

I'm thinking of also Cancel now, some ppl are experience problems others are not. I'm really getting tired of this. WBS, don't tell us anything nor update there Incident page or e-mail us with the problems they are having.
