OK I saw on the gametrailers best of E3 awards, that League of Legends won the RTS title of 2009 award.

Now theres Heroes of Newerth which seems to fly completely under the radar of Gametrailers, and League of Legends was/is developed by the original DOTA creators?

wth....

Both if you've got keys, but my money is on HoN - you can't mess with the look & feel of DotA (like LoL is doing, and what Demigod did) - you gotta stick to the same recipe.

Yeah HoN is way better than LoL and demigod.

its the best new 'dota' game with non of the gayness of LoL's "summoner" bs, and demigods just overall fail.

Demigod was fun and was quite good, but the troublesome online killed it.

Demigod had virtually nothing in common with dota, one of the devs used it accidentally in an interview, because he didn't know what genre their own game belonged to.

HoN is kinda gonna destroy LoL exspecially in South Africa. HoN is dota in every way down to the core mechanics.

LoL tries do be something different, but in the end it will only appeal to the casual crowd. It's a whole lot more newb friendly, no penalty for dying except the other team gets gold, items get recommended to you and people don't have years of experience with the heroes. LoL should remove the rune system though, that's just plain stupid and goes against the genre.

yes, even those useless creeps have the same exact stats.

hehe well their not completely useless - we've had a few games were the creeps actually saved our asses and won the game for us - never underestimate good pushing techniques! :D

Crazy, I did some reading, and people out there actually critisize HoN based on the fact that it IS dota, what bs, HoN is the realisation of what people always wanted Dota to be! I personally think HoN mops the damned floor with the whole LoL approach, even though they dont belong in the same "genre" as folks put it.

Im still so pissed that LoL got awarded GOTY at E3 in RTS by gametrailers, HoN will eventually outgun it like you guys point out...

Now, in terms of bandwidth, what sort of benifeit do we have using the local server? Will we be able to challange and play with overseas folks via the local service?

Do you guys really think that HoN will topple the mighty Ganymede and Serenity off their dota throne locally?

HoN was only "officially" announched like 2 weeks back so the whole marketing thus far consisted of word of mouth it wasn't present at any major gaming events.

As for the bandwith question. If you use route sentry you can play HoN with local bandwith. Since the netcode is so good it's like playing on LAN.
Overseas people can also join the local server, but most of them are smart enough not too because of the increased latency. Had a few odd ones that complained about a slight delay and that was clueless that they joined a ZA server.

But it comes at a price. War3 feels so laggy now, it's impossible to go back.

Yep, overseas guys join us just as fast on the iGame servers

My guess is that dota is going to die a slow death. There will probably still be a few hard core fans but the engine just isn't up to the task anymore. Anyway I have completely stopped playing dota after I started with HoN. @Ganymede and Serenity your tyranny is gonna come to and end soon. hehe :D:D:D

I tried playing dota again after ~40 games of HoN, and I just couldn't. It felt like I was playing underwater. As for LoL: no. Just no...
OT - Saff, add me?: lunchZA
I only play on weekends though.
