Rip off as usual! I still don't understand how I can get a 64GB touch cheaper than a 32GB touch here. My 64GB is on its way from the US :D
 
The new iPod nano is fitted with a variety of new features. A VGA camera with a resolution of 640x480 can take photos...

I was under the impression that it could not take photos.

The camera touch should come out int he next few months, perhaps it would have been better to wait.

By itself, stating that it can take photo's might seem obvious and redundant. The rest of the sentence that follows on reveals that it can also record video (woohoo) which may not have been quite so implicit.

By not mentioning the photo capability it could also be assumed that the camera can only record video. Best to make things clear; or should the reader be left to fill in the gaps by themself?

I was not being sarcastic. The new nano cannot take photos.
 
Any news on pricing changes for the old Nano's? I'm still holding out hope that I can pick up one cheaply now that the new ones are out :)
 
Screw you Core! I will get my Nano from overseas. The price conversions make no sense at all.
 
They make no sense because we do not follow the US pricing model. We follow the EU prices. Just like we do with DVD Regions.

The 8GB Nano's are +- 145 Euro, which is how much you pay for them here.

Maybe the writer of the article could just say what they go for in the US or UK. Using the UK prices, 135 pounds is NOT R2500. It is R1642. The fact that Core charges anything above R2000 for the 16 GB model is ridiculous.

Disgusting.

(And I was starting to have a little more faith in them in the last few months).

Are you sarcastically suggesting that it isn't sarcastic to suggest that the nano camera "can't take photo's?" Are you suggesting that the picture quality is so poor by other portable camera standards that it amounts to an inability to take photo's?

Excuse me for being dim.

I'm inclined to agree however; it seems a bit silly to slap on cameras that have been outdated on cellphones for...what? 4 years at least?
 
Wow, this is silly. Again Core is milking the "poor" public.

$180 in US stores (OK, it is $180 x 7.5% sales tax = $193.5 in Florida, USA).
But this is not the problem as Core does not buy the Nano's at $180.00 and shipping is not that high as I'm sure they send it via ship.

Using a modest exchange rate and the price in the Apple stores:
$180 x 8 = R1440 (Exchange rate this morning was R7.43 and also was less than R8.00/$ avg the past 4 months)

Add 14% VAT and you will get R1641.6 which means the mark-up is R858.00. From that some import taxes and shipping cost must be deducted, but we are not working on cost price from Apple, but the selling price in the Apple stores. Therefore most of those costs will absorb by the price difference.

Again, thank you Core. I will be importing my Nano.
 
Why would you want a camera on your ipod though? Doesn't every cellphone come with one these days?
