To Pentium or not to Pentium?

I'm currently using a Celeron D 3Ghz (Ugh). Is it worth it to upgrade to the E5200? Will there be an improvement, specifically with regards to Windows 7 and gaming in XP?
And where would be the cheapest to buy one? I noticed IC has them for R750, and Esquire is around R600 IIRC. Still want to find out how much they go for at PC Zone.
Any advice would be appreciated.
 
wow - yeah dude, an upgrade from a celeron u'll def notice an improvement. often cpu doesnt make too much diff in fps - thats more bout the gpu - but with a celeron i think u'll def notice. have a look at www.pcint.co.za - they often have good prices

Ah thanks. Can anyone buy from them? And do they do deliveries?
 
PC Int is not cheap

I dont see what is all the fuss about PC Int prices , I got their latest pricelist which i requested and they not as cheap as some of ppl on the forum make them out to be. :confused:

I compared the processors , memory, monitor and Hdd prices and frontosa, axiz, esquire , rectum and even sahara are a hellva lot cheaper then those dudes @ pc int , see I dont see the logic of purchasing from them and still have to pay for shipping to cpt.

Maybe because they sell to the general public.

They sell to the PUBLIC and are NOT SUPPLIERS...understand now...?:)

it even the pricelist refers to Business to Business & Dealer pricelist

bcoz even the pricing is excl of vat like frontosa, axiz, esquire , rectum and sahara.

take PCzone , Take 2 or IC and they all state inclusive of vat , as they suplly to the public ,

Pc-int states excl. and incl. ;)
 
other websites to try is Landmarkpc and prophecy, ive used them both and are quite speedy :D
 
I happen to sell PC's and it's almost our business ethic to NOT sell Celeron chips because they under perform - it's for people who really really really have MAJOR budget constraints.

Dual Core E5200 (I think it's that one - without looking at a price list) will be a great upgrade, but in the coming weeks, Intel prices are going to drop quite a bit.

I'd personally save for a bit longer and jump more.

By that I mean, you're doing a baby upgrade, save for longer, check what your motherboard can take and depending on that, and your budget, go as far as you can so you don't have to worry about upgrading your CPU for a long while.
 
I agree gdiza rather save a bit more and go for something like a Core 2 Duo E7500

You can beg to differ all you like....we have almost ALL bought from pcint...they DO sell to the general public and have a walk-in store in Randburg. If you look on their website prices are stated as vat excl and incl.

I merely answered his question wrt price from a certain retailer. What he chooses to do is entirely his business.

YEs keep saving til u get an i7

The E5200 wont be much slower than the E7500 when OCed, if u really wanna save get a quad.

But I think the E5200 will be more than enough for u
