After 3 months with no problems at all, my Option card just somma stopped working this morning. I have tried in 2 laptops. Blue and Green light alternating. Any suggestions?

Yes, phone MTN.

Kidding, I love my 3G. Have you done the normal restart laptop, pull the card out, etc etc thing?

I'm currently on my Option card, near JHB International and all seems fine.

The error indications points to the card crashing.

Anyone else seeing this? I'll also ask 155 if something's up.

Are you guys in the same area?

Mine has been doing it for the past week or so. It would work great for a while, then suddenly NADA!!! Nothing. ALternating lights, and the connection is dead. I have to disconnect then. And reconnect. Sometimes I have to restart again.

There seems to be a problem in the Midrand (around Mustek, Vodaworld region - could be wider spread though)area with the 3G network.

Cannot logon to 3G at all (card crashes), but GPRS logons on, and seems to be working fine, just force the card to GPRS for now.

The network say they are aware of the problem, and are busy trying to resolve it...

I have also just switched over to GPRS and the card works.

I phoned 155 and was told that the way I "eject" my card could be incorrect and that could be why it does not work ??? and that 3G is fine. They could not say why other people had the same problem at the same time as me.

As I am not the only person with the problem I think they need a bit more training, as I doubt we have all stuffed our cards on the same morning.

Looks like the problem is more widespread within the greater Johannesburg area, I am now at JIA, and cannot logon to 3G (strange that V3G could earlier), but again the card works fine on GPRS, and crashes when trying to make a 3G connection to the net.

On my way to Bloem, will see if I have the same problem there or not...

Maybe the palm trees were overwatered by the rain last night in Jo'burg?

My GPRS has become so slooooow I have had to dial up again:(.

I just spent half an hour on the line to Vodacom support, re-creating all my profiles GPRS and 3G. He still didnt understand fully what I was telling him:(

EDIT:
After telling him my 3g card cannot connect I got an sms on my 3G card.

Your call has been assigned as Ref: ********. Thank You. Vodacom Customer Care 082111

I dont normaly open the dash once a month - I'm lucky I got it.

Can you guys who are seeing the card crashing please confirm the following:

Card: Option?
Bearer: 3G?
Area: Greater JHB?

Please check your firmware rev for me, using the dash. go to tools diagnostics.

Tx!

Sometimes they'll call you on your 3G number if you logged a call :)

Can you please check your firmware rev for me (using the dreaded dash!)

Tx!

I was inside the domestic departures terminal, and was having the same problem as in Midrand... GPRS fine, and card crashing when trying to connect to the 3G network, not even able to make the "dialup" connection, just alternating LED's

In Bloemfontein now, and 3G is working 100% here (maybe the Freestater's are stealing our 3G signal?)

Also got an SMS informing that there is a problem with 3G in my area, and that it is currently being investigated.

SMS from Vodacom:

Please be advised that a problem on the 3G network in your area is currently being investigated. Regards,
