Okay, just got off the phone with Shaun Green, as I explained to him AGAIN, my connection blows. His really pissed off with the techies, and asked a favour from us.

If you have slow speeds, email them through to him, with the subject: REALLY SLOW SPEEDS, and just give a short desciption about your service.

If you are getting disconnceted, then email him with the SUBJECT: DISCONNECTED FROM IRC AND MSN, and just give aq short desciption about whats happening your side.

If you are getting dodgy packet loss, or other such problems use the subject: BAD PACKET LOSS, with the relevenat information.

If you are like me, and you have all of the above, use the subject: IBURST CONNECTION BLOWS.

Everyone who has an issue needs to do this, Shaun is really upset and wants the techies to see exactly where we are having a problem, and where the distributions of the issues are.

So in your email try include what tower you are on, what area, and signal strength.

For those of you who dont know, Shauns email is [email protected]

Paste a copy of your email sent below also:P so we also know whats been submitted.

Thanks

MAKE SURE YOU SEND THE EMAIL WITH THE RELVANT INFORMATION TO SHAUN AS WELL

Hi Shaun,

My dl speeds have been averaging around 2.1KB/sec, and ul speeds around 3.2KB/sec. This was for the entire weekend (Saturday morning onwards).

I still have 1.01 GB remaining according to my daily email.

Midrand Tower, 3 to 5 signal strength (mostly 5). I am in Noordwyk, with my Ethernet UTD above a curtain rail.

I seriously hope you can sort this hassle out soon. For your sanity and ours.

Hi Shaun,

I have been getting slow speeds similar to the ones below ever since I
signed up with your service. I have complained numerous times and have
received no service and most of the times NO RESPONSE from you. To
this dat I have used up 800 MB of my alotted 3 GBs simply because the
connection is unusable. I've just conducted some speed tests and am
pasting them here for your persual. I am really dissatisfied with your
service - I have been really patient with iBurst but am not receiving
anything in return!

Location: Linden Ext (5 km from Northcliff). Friday tested the
connection in Braamfontein (from Wits) -- downloaded a file from
overseas on 4-5 KB/s.
Experiencing these speeds ALL THE TIME.

Hi Shaun….

I never had problems before the launch. After that day it’s been a roller coaster. Most notable problems are:

1. Very slow HTTP way below 64k
2. Most of the time P2P stands still!
2. MSN messenger and mirc disconnection (Fixed as of Friday 15th) but replaced with-->no.3
3. Complete disconnection from the network every other hour (UTD reset required to log on again).

It should be of note that it’s not always this slow, but most of the time.

UTD=100% signal
PTA-West
PTA Sunny Side tower (I think).

Kind Regards

Yep, entire weekend it was bad, and still not improving.

I'm 300m from Olivedale Tower, full 5 LED signal, but speeds had been really bad. I'm not capped yet either.

iBurst has become like sentec. No doubt in my mind. It does not take 3 months to sort out disconnect problems. Guys lets start nailling them. The guys are awesome people but being nice counts bugger all if i am paying for empty promises.
We should all not be going through this crap.
I am going to tell everyone not to bother with them!

I'm scared to say this (maybe things change again soon), but I get reasonable speeds (450 - 1066 kbps) since about 09:00 this morning...

Hi Shaun

I've had bad speeds since the 4th of this month. I've sent you mail about this, and cc'ed it to Sasan & Thami, but nobody has had the manners to reply.
During the day I'm in Blairegowrie Randburg, and at night Lonehill. My speed was back briefly on sat morning @ 6am, but then went downhill from there. Slow speeds all weekend, day & night. This morning, in Blairegowrie, local speed test:
* Download time: 33.59 seconds
* Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
* Estimated line speed: 121.5 (kilobits/second)
* Estimated line speed: 14.9 (kiloBytes/second)
This is truly pathetic. Is this going to be sorted out, or is this the speed from now on? Can anyone at WBS HONESTLY say that it is fair for me to be paying R699 for this service?

Regards
Jerry

Good news first, I am getting *brilliant* p2p speeds, even though I'm capped.
Internet browsing seems a little slow, but its what I would expect from a capped connection.

The real problem is the disconnections. I seem to be getting disconnected several times a day. Most of the time I can just reconnect, but sometimes I have to reset the modem just like in the bad old days. I used to want a remote just to turn the modem on and off. :)))))))

To sum up, there is a problem, but overall I am very happy with iBurst. The best point is how fast the capped connection is compared to what I have seen on ADSL.

I have to agree, much faster than capped adsl.. :)

copy of abridged email just in case..

"Hi Shawn,

I believe that you are the man that will resolve my problems. I and many other customers were given the assurance that the intermittent speed problems were going to be resolved last week. I have been connected since the beginning of the month and have been waiting for that stabilisation to occur.

Since Friday I have not managed to get more than 50kbps during the day and 120kbps at night, this with a desktop device and a full signal. At least before I could burst to 1mbps very late at night or in early hours of the morning, but not anymore. I have logged a call on Saturday and Sunday and they (Thato/Thabo & Peter) escalated this issue to Louis yesterday (he was apparently on leave). I also called this morning and Portia asked me for my serial number. She says that it is not all the customers that are affected (not sure about that just based on the coutrywide feedback on the myadsl forum)..

Anyway, I hope you will help restore my confidence asap...."

Bugger, just after I complement them, the whole Cape Town network has gone down. Me and my big mouth. >:( Does anyone know anything about this? The network status is done on their web page, but there is nothing in the incident report. I cannot get through to the help desk and I have sent an email which is probably the most pointless thing I have done today (it's not just iBurst, apparently no business in South Africa has actually got the hang of the reply button yet :)).

I've just conducted some speed tests, see below. I am really dissatisfied with your service - I have been really patient with iBurst but am not receiving
