Navigon Mobile Navigator SA, yes or no?

Hi,

I was just excited finding the Navigon Navigator GPS for the iPhone on the iStore. However, some people find it to be out dated in certain areas but never say what areas they are in. So what I would like to know is if:

Cape Town incl. surroundings, especially Somerset West, Stellenbosch...
JHB (especially Kyalami Business Park)
Pretoria

are up to date. If anyone has the Navigon on the iPhone please share your opinion.

I will be in JHB and Pretoria for the first time (as a foreigner) in my life soon, so I don't want to get lost there.

Well I have it, and love it (bit memory intensive, but with a 3g phone, everything is a bit memory intensive in 3.0).

I have no used a it a couple of times in pta, on the way to or tambo (to test it), roodepoort, kyalami, fourways and so on.

And so far its 100% accurate. The one thing is, its the only "official" south african gps software for the iphone, so all other versions are "hacked", the question is then, how accurate and up to date are these "hacked" maps, as there is no official source for them.

I've used sygic, tomtom and navigon. All have them are excellent tools with their own pros and cons, but navigon, is the only legal gps software currently supplying south african maps.
 
Thanks for the helpful answer. If at all possible, would you mind checking addresses for me? If those addresses can be found I can download it, otherwise it's useless.

Do you have a specific street address for this? As its not a POI, so you need a street address for it?
 
I have found it a little more accurate in finding addresses than the Garmin.
That said I have also found that the iPhone loses gps signal alot more than my garmin. The biggest drawback over the Garmin is the lack of custom poi's..

Cool, thank you. I haven't received the address for Kyalami business park yet. But I just googled for an address there: Monte Carlo Crescent.
So as long this can be found it's fine.
 
Well I personally know that kyalami business park is close to allandale and r55 crossing, but if they do not give you a physical address you won't find it on the gps as its not a poi

I am still waiting for them to answer my email. A business partner told me they have their offices at Kyalami business park. But I believe that such a big location is probably covered anyway.

Thank you for your help, I guess I should download :)
 
So far I've not had an issue, and every street that I've searched for, I've located, even down to the correct suburb, something that sometimes causes a problem on other gps software.

But some people have complained that its not complete enough, but I'm happy so far

I guess as long as you stay in areas of high population it will be covered.
 
Downloaded it and used it this evening on my way to and around Cape Town. I don't regret the purchase at all. Thanks for the assistance!
 
Is the navigon available for the symbian phones i.e. Nokia and what is the site for download, also sygic and tomtom. Thanx much appreciated, btw using Ndrive and Garmin xt on my 5800 as nokia maps licence just expired.
 
Hi Guys!

I just sold my Nokia N95 8Gig with Garmine XT as I now have an Iphone 3G (getting the 3GS soon). Few questions.

1. If i download it now to my 3G will I be able to move it across to my 3GS?
2. Does it have Camera Alerts?
3. Is it really worth the purchase?
4. Can you buy a Cradle for this phone for the car?

Navigon V1.4 is out now , includes speedcams , anylinks ??????
