3G roll-out phase 2

Hi forumites!

I have not seen any change to the 3G coverage map lately. (or maybe I have not been looking hard enough or in the right places) ;)

vodacom3g, will the phase 2 3G roll out be swithch on when all the base stations earmarked for the phase 2 roll out are converted or are they enabled as soon as the BS hardware has been upgraded? I can remember you mentioning a new 3g coverage map in the making?

Any idea when phase 2 will be complete?

2nd phase rollout has allready started.And Vodacom is ahead of time in rollout.Dial 082155 for 3g coverage.

Hi - 3G is a totally seperate and NEW network altogether. It has nothing to do with the GSM basestations. The upgrades to the GSM basestations are for EDGE access, and last I heard completion date for this is sometime end July. V3G should be able to confirm this...

As the base stations (called NodeB's in 3G-speak) are finalised, they're turned on. So you should see incremental improvement in coverage.

I believe the map should show the new coverage as 'Phase 2' but must confirm this.

15 NEW 3G sites have been added in KZN on the 15th April 05.All went live on the same day.Another 200 is planned for KZN this year
