I have noticed new IP blocks on the iBurst network, so everybody isn't 196.46.*.* anymore, does anyone know what the new IP blocks are? I'm trying to make something for iBurst users only so I need to use the users IP to verify they on iBurst. If you dont know what the IP range is I would appreciate it if you'd post your IP (it doesn't have to be the whole IP just the basic block)

Definitely on a new range - not sure exactly when this started, but I don't seem to get 196.46.x.y anymore [at all the last few days] - a bit odd bcos the previous range is 196.46.64.0..196.46.71.255, so I'm guessing that they now have more customers & need more IP addresses, but what exactly happened to the old range - surely some customers [maybe in certain provincial regions or something] should theoretically still be getting assigned the IPs from the 196.46 block - unless WBS think loads of customers will be prepared to pay ZAR200/month for a static IP...

Also, the new IP block/range does not appear to be registered yet - nothing when you do an IP lookup/whois.

So Slimothy, what are you working on for us IBurster's..
its a speed survey that will collect speed test information (and latency info) and user supplied information (base station, signal, gps co-ords) to show real time stats of wheres good and where isn't, when its good and when its not etc. Hopefully it will allow us to detect problem areas ourselves and also see how saturated certain areas are, or for the average surfer just show lots of pretty graphs about iburst performance.

another question, do cape town and durban users use the same IP blocks as us? I would assume so but can any coastal people verify that?

I'm going to test iBurst in Cape Town (Rondebosch) from about Thursday till Sunday, now on Wonderboom tower.

Speed terrible .

i am also of the opinion that this new IP range change is causing this slowing down before my ip range was 196.46.**.** and i still had decent speeds compared to what i get now ..
