My apologies, I had to remove the messages to preserve the friendships I have. They are more valuable to me than anything else.

Somehow, I don't think 20 people will make much of a difference, esp. if those people are so-called hoggers. Go to the media - much more effective.

I will wait till the end of the day before I decide what to do.
I am still hoping this was all a big misunderstanding and they will give us all a free Gig for inconvienence their stupid system caused.

i wouldnt even give them a notice, they didnt give you a notice :> what they ganna do? take you to court.... you would want that!

indeed, I will cancel as soon as I know who I'm supposed to email

I too have cancelled my contract with iBurst.

As far as I am concerned, they are no better than Hellkom in the way that they deal with issues and problems raised by clients and expect us to just accept things as they are or go elsewhere.

Well I have decided to "go elsewhere". That unfortunately means back to dial up as I am not going to be conned into paying for an overpriced ADSL connection either.

Maybe one day when the players in the market have realised that the customer is more important than their bottom line I will think about signing up again.

Agreed, Sytze. However, high-usage clients are not the type of client that WBS wants, hence the move to suspend them - perhaps in the hope of getting them to cancel. If we allow them to get away with it now, it bodes ill for the rest of their clients.

As I've said elsewhere, this just plays into WBS's hands. Think they want heavy downloaders on their network? Of course not. But they didn't mind taking your cash pre-launch.

Guys, you cannot get the Iburst package anywhere else. R599pm 3GB @ 1Mb and 64k unlimited thereafter. Force them to deliver on their promises, rather than surrender in this feeble way.

ok but what happens when all the users who downloaded 6GB or more are gone, what about when they want to increase thier margins a little more, then maybe 3.5GB is abuse. They don't get to choose "profitable clients" whenever they want to, they make a product, make a price for it, if I pay my fee, I expect what I paid for. No one who is suspended wether they downloaded a terrabyte or 6.5GB is in the wrong here, they took what WBS gave them as per the agreement.

What if we all complained? Low and high users alike? Think that would help? I'm not happy with this idea at all. What happens when I want to download the next version of whatever distro I want? Or the next service pack from microsoft? No, no, no. This must be stopped here and now - and high users cancelling is not the way to go about it.

Surely we can tell them "Anonymously seeing as I dont want to be on TV" that WBS are pulling of breach on contract ***, and they will have a story similar to the Telkom one they did earlier. Hopefully they want a change of scenery from the "Gumtree Gang" and police fraud stories they usually investigate :)

I phoned my local Tradepage contact, and threatened to cancel if by the end of the day this WBS "eth_nic cleansing" is not sorted out

Thank you for the support so far. 3 Cancellations and 2 promises in about one hour, will give 3 cancellations x 8 working hours x 2 full days to go x 50% slowdown in cancellations over the time left = plus minus 20.

We're on track

LandyMan: No Telkom at all

I would like to comment on this (Sytze, I won't mess up your thread :D ):
When you look at my postings over the last 1.5 months, I have not complained too much, as the problems at iBurst did not impact that much on the way I use my connection.

That being said, as a relatively happy customer of iBurst, I would give my 1 month notice INSTANTLY if I had any alternatives. If at all possible, I prefer not to deal with companies who act in this manner!
