Just got back from a trip into IBurst.

All hell breaking loose on the helpdesk floor.

All Management carefully 'busy' - except for Anthony McKechnie, who quietly closed his door while I waited to see Sasan.

Switchboard lady, after much murmuring on the phone, says 'Sasans busy at Uunet' and wrote down the following cell numbers.

I reproduce them here:

Sasan Parvin - Chief Technical Officer IBurst - 0827759754

Thami Mtshali - CEO - 082 5658054

It appears that IBurst are in material breach of their contract, and have arbitrarily decided that - despite being contractually obligated to channel users past their cap, onto a slower line - have instead decided to simply pull the plug on users, and hide behind the Helpdesk, and in effect, blackmail users into purchasing more bandwidth.

Even Sentech never went this far.

I've been trying to call SASSIN but he aint answer his phone been trying the whole day, Well i spoke to one of the helpdesk ladies she told me that the accouts will be RE-ACTIVATED, since its WBS Fault but will be closely monitored!

The Helpdesk are saying whatever they can think of, to get people off the line.

Its a Management decision that's been made.

The Helpdesk are just struggling to play 'catchup' to what has been decided at a Management level.

Therefore, all due respect to the Helpdesk - the only people who can say anything with certainty, are the Management themselves. Anything else, is thumbsuck, wishful thinking, and probably being said in order to get you off the line.

WBS Office Number - where the Management themselves are - is 011 715 3400

Be advised that the switchboard lady likes to try and route you back up to the Helpdesk, which defeats the point of the call.

As at 20 minutes ago, Anthony McKechnie was sitting in his office, on the Management level on 15th floor, and therefore available to be called.

Dont' forget, you can send an SMS to vodacom via email - [email protected]

BTW: Nice one LGM ! - good to see some organised activism in place, I urge people to SMS their concerns to those numbers.

The question is to me, do any of them pick up the phone, that what we should ask ourself, its nice to have numbers, tomorrow they could just change it..

I tried calling loads of people with No luck or nobody picking up there phones, Just waiting on help desk Que for about 30 mins, it should be toll free number, they should work an agreement with Vodacom where we can dial from our Phone for free like Tiscali, its nice calling up WBS and waisting about R40 just so they can attend the phone, we should also count that money to our IBURST connection

Don't get WBS, best advice wait untill they sort things out if they do.

I like faxes.
Emails can easily be deleted or ignored. However, faxes use up their paper, and with enough of them, makes a very big pile of irritating examples of unhappy customers.

According to an old text file I have stashed, the WBS Management Fax number (which is separate from the Help Desk Fax number) is Fax: + (27) 11 715 3401

Perhaps people should be faxing both them, and cc'ing the fax to 702 Radio newsroom

FAX NUMBER FOR 702 RADIO:
Main Fax................................ +27 11 506 3670

NORMAL PHONE NUMBER FOR 702 EYEWITNESS NEWSROOM: +27 11 506 3555
(ask whoever answers as to who'd be interested in consumer affairs, technology/IT affairs, and corporate fraud - and get those names and numbers, and fax away..)

Richard, that same advice was given to potential Sentech users, they still havent sorted things out. As far as I'm concerned, WBS is a stepping stone for me to get ADSL finally.

Anyone got email addresses for anyone higher up then the helpdesk or Shaun Green? I got disconnected this morning.

disconnected due to abuse? if so it looks like this "abuse" thing wasn't just a once off due to thier faulty bandwith management software and might become a permanent thing.

How much have you used?
