If you're e.g. given a car allowance of R1.5 million you don't go and buy and 200k car because you don't get the remainder as "change". You buy a car using your full allowance.

Sure, they should not be excessive, but you can't only blame those using their allowance. Blame the ones that set the allowance.

The same applies to judges. They have a R1 million car allowance. Whether they use 800k or 100k they don't get the rest as change.
 
There's the explanation you were looking for, sipho. Remember the other day when you were so shocked by your comrade's splurge at the Cape Town hotel and you hoped he'd come up with a reasonable answer for the spending binge? Well here it is. And it's a simple '**** you'.

Why is it government policy to allow for this kind of abuse of Taxpayers money?

Also, I would have lolled my ass off if the Hilton had refused him accommodation. It would have been a marketing stunt of considerable value.

It would be really really interesting if the 5 star hotels stepped up to the social responsibility plate and actively told our MP's to get lost. Of course, these hotels can hardly afford to do that.

I agree with you, what is he going to say now, that he didn't know again. He can make it up by getting rid of heavy crimes quicker.

Hundreds of community members in Mthatha joined national and provincial dignitaries yesterday to celebrate the opening of a R15 million state-of-the- art school built to replace what used to be a mud structure.

The officials described the opening of the Zithulele Senior Primary School in Zimbane area as evidence that partnership between government and the private sector can be a success.

The school’s construction was made possible by the provincial Department of Education and Vodacom Foundation, which contributed R7,5 million each. It will also be used as a training centre for local community members and neighbouring schools.

Parents, who have been pleading with the department for a better school, said their prayers have been answered beyond their expectations.

The officials described the opening of the Zithulele Senior Primary School in Zimbane area as evidence that partnership between government and the private sector can be a success.

The school’s construction was made possible by the provincial Department of Education and Vodacom Foundation, which contributed R7,5 million each. It will also be used as a training centre for local community members and neighbouring schools.

Parents, who have been pleading with the department for a better school, said their prayers have been answered beyond their expectations.
 
15 million?
So the actual deal was 10 million and the rest was kickbacks to the ANC

I also give them a big thumbs up...every cent spent in education is money well spent...

Until recently, by virtue of being Telkom owned, Vodacom was also gvt owned(in a round about way) :D
