In 2005, Jamie Leigh Jones was gang-raped by her Halliburton/KBR co-workers while working in Iraq and locked in a shipping container for over a day to prevent her from reporting her attack. The rape occurred outside of U.S. criminal jurisdiction, but to add serious insult to serious injury she was not allowed to sue KBR because her employment contract said that sexual assault allegations would only be heard in private arbitration--a process that overwhelmingly favors corporations.
This year, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) proposed an amendment that would deny defense contracts to companies that ask employees to sign away the right to sue. It passed, but it wasn't the slam dunk Jon Stewart expected. Instead the amendment received 30 nay votes all from Republicans. "I understand we're a divided country, some disagreements on health care. How is ANYONE against this?" He asked.

What utter and complete scum these guys are. Wow! These people really are the bottom of the human morality chain. Basically they are trying to protect big business from law suites rather than protect rape victims. Wow:eek:

Im not sure many Republican supporters can hold their heads up high anymore.

Here's an interesting fact regarding big business. Delaware is the biggest tax heaven in the U.S. No prize for guessing for which state VP Joe 'gaffe machine' Biden represented as a senetor for 20 odd years.....
 
Not unexpected from the Republican Party. In fact one would have assumed a Cheque accompanied the vote knowing how they work.

I'm sorry who received more money in the last election campaign. The Dems or Republicans :o

I don't know which way I'd vote until I've actually read the amendment. Certainly wouldn't base my judgement on something from Jon Stewart :rolleyes:

Go read it then and then give us your opinion? (there is a lot of reading matter online for you to make an informed opinion about this) I would vote to help out rape victims, its a non-brainer for me. Eagerly waiting for your response to my question.
