Core™ 2 Extreme QX600 series CPU

So I wanted to upgrade my E6400 to a E7500 but I've now found out that since my GA-965P-S3 motherboard is a fscking rev 1.0 and not a rev 3.3 I can't upgrade to anything but a Core™ 2 Extreme QX600 CPU :mad::mad::mad:.

Now Obviously I can't find any of them for sale new and haven't come across any offered second hand. Are there any problems with these CPUs I should know about?

I'm a bit confused....why can it hold an e6xx but not an e7xxx?

QX6xx are very expensive... I see it can hold a q6600, how about that?

I just checked it can run a q6600 :o

Still hard to find though
 
Reviews of it were good. Won't be buying Gigabyte anything in the future
 
Its not just Gigabyte, my MSI P965 board had the problem, its prob chipset related. Thats why i had to upgrade to i5.

Also ever wondered why it went from Rev 1.0 directly to 3.3?

I had a 1.0 until it developed some issues from new, I managed to "trade up" to a 3.3 at Rectron when they wanted to replace it. Still using it as a second machine today. Nice board.

As a fellow (at one time)sufferer of the dreaded Rev 1.0 board take pity on me and swap it for mine( along with a small monetary gift from me for your kindness). It's only a second PC after all.......

Ja, the G31 Gigabyte MB's are cool. Not the best feature or overclock wise but they get the job done at a good price.
