How dumb. Fortunately for you South Africans, at least this one problem does not really exist in your country 
The indigenous people were/are so much behind when the Europeans got there, they are happy to embrace the western culture/language/traditions etc. No cultural clash really. Yes, they are quick to change the names of cities and towns (political reasons) but look at them, most have a European name and proud themself in speaking a european language Actually some are even embarrased by their 'old ways'/languages. Actually it is a bit sad but nevertheless, true. Of course, this brings new problems into the equation but at least the one posted in this tread, is not really there

Hmm. I think there's more to this story than what initially seems to be.
They haven't caught the guy who did it, they're still looking for him etc.
So where then did they establish the motive as "his daughter is too westernised" from?
Did he leave a note?: "By the time you read this, I would have run over my daughter because...."
Did the 'friend' Khalaf give this as a motive?
Did the daughter say this?
Recall that whenever you are fighting with family and loved ones the dictum of: "People NEVER fight about what they're actually fighting about."
i.e. The arguments of her being "too westernised" could very well be arguments over her relationships like maybe for instance sleeping with the friend Khalaf.
Maybe that's why he almost ran BOTH of them down. Two birds with one stone.
If he wanted to kill his daughter he could've done that at home...

People don't question the media, "Balloon boy" was still hiding in the attic while the media were sending crews to follow the empty balloon in a mad psychotic frenzy, only a day later was the obvious made public but mostly because all the attention made it hard to ignore.

According to the story, he was angry that she "was not living according to [the family's] traditional Iraq values" and the police say that she was living with Khalaf.

You're right, and this confusion most likely stems from the media trying to be too PC and not labelling as an honour killing by a man following his religious teachings.

Your statement is fallacious. I guess not everyone questions the media, but there are lots of skeptics out there. I take digs at media all the time, here and on my personal blog.
