Frustrated with Vodacom 3G-HSPDA Service

Is anyone else having probs with Vodacom's HSPDA service in the Brentwood Park area ( Benoni North ) It will work for a bit then crash. Has been doing this for ages now. I am always complaining and all you get are Vodacom data agents pointing fingers at either yr PC or Laptop. I have a E220 with 9.3.6.12095 software. The modem has been upgraded to reach speeds of 7.2 ( haha ) Now I find it best to rather connect to the GPRS service, at least you are always connected and can log onto the web, even though the speed is slow. I really want to revert to MTN as if you can't get 3G you can at least get Edge. With Vodacom it is either 3G ( which hardly works 100% or GPRS ) What is also frustrating is that you pay a wack for 3g bundles and Bid deal Vodacom who are always bragging can never deliver. Trust me I have also installed the 3.2.1 software and it made no difference. I run vista and can only point fingers at Vodacom's 3G network, as if it was my Laptop MTN or GPRS wud not work.

Hopefully the Vodacom rep. on this forum will see your post and get in touch with you..

Anybody know who the Vodacom rep. is?

Are you experiencing this problem only in one specific area, or does it happen anywhere you go?

Trust me, you don't want to switch to MTN - unless it is on prepaid or month to month. Their billing and internal systems are a mess. You'll end up having a nightmare, they will overbill you, or screw up your account, or fsck something up royally. Rather try to fix your Vodacom problem - it might just be a driver or firmware issue.

Read here - why should stay away from MTN. Very difficult, almost impossible, to resolve any problems you have.

YEAH!! I have been having hassles with Vodacom data service for a number of days now. However, I don't believe it will get better? Why should it? We will have to pay no matter how CR@PPY it is - won't we!! I have full bars but It seems to mean jack!!

So who do we try next? I wish there was a company that would come into SA and just give us a service that is worth paying for!!
 
I live 5km from Nelspruit and I can get 3G+ signal here. I even forgot my 3G was connected for 2 days one weekend, it never disconnected.
 
seems like i better move to nelspruit. Yeah, i get 3G and HSDPA, but i can't do anything with it. It was fine earlier today and last night so what did i do?? LIKE AN IDIOT i went and bought ANOTHER R400 for data!!! AND to make tings worse, my wife just upgraded her cell phone and it was on my name on MTN and she went to VODACOM! I was also planning that move shortly but I doubt that will happen.

My work 3G, MTN, gets 2 bars ONLY 2 bars and the speed is FASTER than VODACOM with 5 bars!!!! SAME modem SAME firmware SAME client software from huawei. go figure!!
 
Oh did i mention i can't get into GMail AND i battled to get back here to post this!!!!!!!!!
 
I have also been having some major issues the last 2-3 weeks with VC data. Connects, with no data, international sites, like GMail and Hotmail is a nightmare to try and reach.

Luckily my ADSL unshaped is in and working at home, so I only need to use VC when I am mobile

Well I have about the same luck with Telkom (VODACOM - go figure). I am in President Park Midrand and no cables and no other service so basically we are in a 4th world country with 10th world service providers.

In fact i probably have a better ADSL connection than a VODACOM 3G connection :D if you get my meaning!!
 
coverage vs speed

hey guyz how does one tell at what speed 1 is operating within network coverage, i mean u connect using a voda usb modem and it normally seeks the best coverage. when u go to data heavy sites or down load it supposedly operates @ hspda coverage but there is no indication that 1 is downloading/surfing @ hspda speeds

speed.vodacom.co.za - to check your connection speed
www.speedtest.net - to check your speed on the internet
 
yep their whole network has been sucking for the last 2-3 weeks
