Seeing as most CPUs have amazing overclocking headroom (reaching 4GHz and above) I thought this would be a good place to post your settings, temperatures and hardware specifications which resulted in your overclock to 4GHz and above to help prospective overclockers. Feel free to discuss all things 4GHz-related here :)

Please post your overclock in the format:

CPU-Z and Real Temp screenshot
- Idle temperature
- Load temperature
- Ambient temperature

Hardware specifications
- CPU and cooling method
- Motherboard
- RAM

Load temperature: 65C - 72C
Ambient temperature: 23C

Hardware specifications

Intel Core i7 920 D0 cooled by Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme 1366 version
ASUS Rampage II Extreme
6GB (3 x 2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1600 CL9

BIOS settings
CPU multiplier: 20x
BCLK: 200MHz
CPU Voltage: 1.2750V
All other settings on auto, except SpeedStep and C1E disabled.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share how you managed the overclock so that others may as well, not bragging rights :p

Still have my Q6600 at stock, had this baby for a few years now and still not bothered to OC it, not sure how good it's gonna be on air during SA summer though.
 
Let's see some PhenomII 4GHz overclocks as well. I've tried, didn't work. :P
 
I've tried hitting 4 Ghz on my setup. But for the life of me I can't go above 3.5 Ghz. I haven't even added extra voltage to my overclock (2.8 Ghz > 3.5 Ghz). I use this speed for every day use. My system just refuses to boot and goes back to previous bios settings.

My temps on full load is around 65C..

I dunno if it's my board that's stuffing out or my CPU?

Also my board is supposed to be able to "overclock" the FSB to 1066 or something? Check my sig for rig details..

You can go to about 3.6 on air with a very good cooler. My 3.0 does not go over 50 in peak summer temps.
 
Any personal recommendations on a cooler for an i7 920 (D0) to push for 4GHz+ ? I kinda wanna be a part of this :P Currently using PIB cooler @ 3GHz - not the coolest of rigs
 
Naw, my E5200 is only good for 3.4Ghz. Cant get much more from a G31 Gigabyte mobo.

4,000MHz / 12.5x = 320MHz bus speed
320MHz * 4 = 1,280MHz Front Side Bus

Surely a G31 motherboard supports at least 1,333MHz FSB? :confused: Pretty sure my Gigabyte G31-ES2C does.
