Whats this, could it really be? My router is chatting to the DSLAM via ADSL2+?

Mmmm....

How do I check if I'm on an ADSL2+ DSLAM?
The router will show the standard used to connect under your ADSL / line statistics. ADSL2+ would be G.992.5, whereas standard ADSL will show as G.992.1 (DMT) or G.992.2 (Lite). Copy of my D-Link's ADSL statistics:
Statistics -- ADSL

Mode: G.DMT
Type: Fast
Line Coding: Trellis On
Status: No Defect
Link Power State: L0

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 30.3 12.0
Attenuation (dB): 20.0 10.5
Output Power (dBm): -3.9 12.6
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 12064 1216
