Check out Salling Clicker on Google - I'm using it all the time with my Powerbook and it is really cool. Powerpoint, DVD remote, iTunes remote. (sorry no link...run into ADSL cap limit...) There's also Romeo which is free, but the Symbian side of things needs a app via Paypal.
Not sure where to point for PC based stuff, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.
