These pricks have been debiting my account for the past two months for about R1500, without my authorisation. I'm not even a customer!

So the first thing I did the first time was contact them via email. After a lot of back and forth correspondence, they said they'd investigate, and I haven't heard back (surprise).

Then this week it happened again so I went in to the bank. Filled in a letter of dispute so they can get my money back, but they said Multichoice would probably still be debiting my account so I must contact their accounts department and let them know that it's illegal.

So I go onto the website to look for the accounts department number, and there's nothing. I find a number for the contact centre hoping that they can put me through. I phone the number and it's some automated piece of sh#t telling me to describe the problem.

I mean WTF!!! First they fsck me over by illegally drawing my money, and then they can't provide a simple thing like a phone number, with a human to speak to

Does anyone have a number with a human being on the other end of the phone? Thanks in advance

I presume you called one of these?

For all technical, accounts and programming enquiries:

083 900 DSTV (3788) (VAS rates apply)
Johannesburg: (011) 289-2222
Pretoria: (012) 422-2222
Cape Town: (021) 508-2222
Durban: (031) 710-2222
Port Elizabeth: (041) 395-2222
Bloemfontein: (051) 503-2222

Just keep pushing the buttons and you'll speak to someone, eventually.

keep pressing "0" and the VAS system will eventually give up and put you through to a person.

Or say random words like "pineapple" "fecund" "soliloquy" "defenestration" "catastrophic" every time it asks you a question... eventually it'll give up and transfer you.

It's even better if you speak a different language. :)

Hehe figured it out - you have to say "transfer me" to go through to someone. Was given the runabout and the number is 011 289 3000 for the credit department. The accounts department deals with existing subscribers only, so if this happens to anyone else then you'd have to call the credit department.

They were closed when I called, so I'm going to have to try on Monday.

Go to your bank and have them reverse the transactions

Already done :)

The problem is it's going to keep going off monthly until Multichoice stops it, why is why I have to speak to them. If they play dumb and it happens again then the bank's fraud department will hear about it (as well as Visa) and I'm going to sue these thieves for much more than they've been drawing. In order for a debit order to go through, they require a copy of my ID and signature on their T&C's (both of which I'm certain they don't have).

The same happened to me a few months ago. I used my banks online reversing a fraudulent debit order facility and reversed the payment. There is also a facility to stop the debit order
The money y was back in my account within 48 hours at no cost to me.

He would probably thank you for helping him out with this problem that he had just 11 years ago ... if only he was still a forum member nowadays.
