Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has insisted he does not have to bring silverware to Anfield and has claimed that finishing second last season was a "massive achievement".

The Spaniard is currently under-fire after watching his side slump to six defeats in their last seven games, a run that has put a dent in their hopes of claiming either the Premier League or the Champions League whilst they have already been knocked out of the League Cup by Arsenal.
ye that's the right mentality!

"Look at the value of the squad before compared to the value of the squad now. You can see the progression."
I dunno the value of the team before was 11 players on the pitch whilst now the value of the team is only 3/4 players left

lol, that comment is daft IMO, but its taken out of context and would like to see a link.

Only two weeks ago Mourinho said he has to win trophies unlike Benitez and Wenger and now Benitez confirms it. :D

Most arsenal supporters I know dismiss the carling cup as worthless, but if they won it you would never hear the end of it.Sorry gunners fans :D

wheres newcastle? :P

the carling cup is worthless, but watching the youth and reserve team is priceless

I think they phrased that question all wrong and poised it to him, he was talking about last season and not the future, any team that racks up 86 points in a season and only loses twice would normally win the league. Plus add that to our previous league record he was trying to say we over achieved.

/facepalm ....with what we had we over achieved. In the beinging of the season all Liverpool supporters say we're going to take the league, but some times we know it was realistically impossible, given the last few season we were well then 10 points adrift. Last season was something out of the ordinary.

coming second is nothing out of the ordinary ;)

it's like saying oh UNITED IS AWE cos they got to the final of the CL! or Germany was the best cos they got to the final of the world cup with 1 player! Khan!

I know, brings back the great quote of a great man, Bill Shanky
"If you are first, you are first, if you are second, you are nothing" ;)
