I am an avid War movie fan, and am looking for further suggestions to add to the collection - old classics, and modern classics

Ok, not a war movie but still :).

You should diversify and get some foreign war films. Most of this Hollywood stuff is just idealised stuff about US GIs/UK soldiers in WW2 or US GIs in Nam.

Replace it with The Mercenary's originally based on Wilbur Smith "The Dark of the Sun"

What don't you like about "Enemy at the Gates"?

Personally I enjoy it a lot. It is based on fact ( only a few pages of the book of the same name LOL! ) and it's depictions of Stalingrad and the Volga crossings seem very accurate. There was a chick sniper - Zaitsev's lover - but no happy ending. There was a commissar named Danilov who did expose himself ( killed in the process ) to allow Zaitsev to get an idea of his opponent's location.
 
Band of Brothers is the best modern war movie IMO.

Also, what was that movie about the two snipers on the Russian Front, it was pretty good.

Dicey

The World At War was a excellent series that screened on Sundays SABC if I'm not mistaken. Watched it religiously! Band of Brothers ruled though, I hope The Pacific is as good as BoB!
