It's not the same. Science adjusts its views based on what is observed. Religion clings to its established views through blind faith.

The judge has ruled that as long as you have blind faith in a thing, it grants you special protection, but if you have a strong opinion based on actual evidence you get no protection. As I said, pure tolly.
 
Science adjusts its views based on taxpayer and corporate funding. Cash cow here, cash cow there.

I'm not saying global warming doesn't exist, or any of the other denialism things, I'm just saying the smell of truth is not as strong as the smell of money and employment and being able to pay the bills.

Scientists are just human with human problems. They lie, they cheat, they steal. They eat, they sleep they need money. They cover up the truth and they lie about the truth. Just like anyone else. They are as deserving of trust and faith as the bankers who say "There's no fineprint. Sure you'll be able to pay it back."
