Yup that would be rather nice. Seems they can intercept and take out other people's arms but they happily stock pile their own.

IMO the only miscalculation Israel made in the whole Gaza mess, was not gobsmacking Hamas when they first declared virtual war on Israel as their electoral platform. Their [Hamas] whole approach rivals the SA government’s for sheer stupidity (SA still holds the record though – world champions). A 90lb weakling (Hamas) kicking sand into the face of a 250lb bodybuilder on a steroid drip (Israel). What did they think would happen? “Oh please Mr bada$$ Hamas sir, we beg you to stop the rocket attacks”. Then they wake from their wet dream and find their coffee cold. Bizarre!
However, Israel needs to maintain a credible defense posture in the ME. They have invested a great deal in their ‘Merkava’ tank. The war paradigm is changing. As well as the set piece battles in the desert (with lots of open space) where the tanks excel, a new dimension has entered and (IMO) the Israeli’s are taking more casualties than necessary. This is urban warfare and tanks are at a disadvantage. The streets and thoroughfares are narrow and one ‘martyr for Allah’ with a portable, shoulder launched missile can take-out a million dollar tank, it’s crew and any infantry compliment hitching a ride through a fire zone. A good risk/return ratio for the enemy.
Israel should invest in a helicopter development program (similar to their tank) for their own helicopter. ‘Surgical strikes’ become much easier. Eg. A gunship helicopter sanitizes the approaches to a building. Another one drops troops who go directly to the trouble spot and sort-out the problem. Airlifted out again. Minimizes causalities (own and civilian) instead of fighting through by tank. The helicopter can also be used for other tasks.
If the Israeli’s choose this route and they are not too far up the anus of the Americans, I would like to draw their attention to the following. As well as the American Apache helicopter, they should consider the SA Rooivalk. The Rooivalk was considered by many to fly better than the Apache helicopter. Unfortunately, the American’s indulged in commercial blackmail. They deemed that the Apache weapon system would only be sold with Apache helicopters and never alone. Rooivalk sales slumped (a military helicopter needs a weapons suite). Israel shouldn’t have this problem. They’re developing, not buying.

That's what most people want, I'd say over 90%, we want a government that gives equal rights to all regardless of religion, what happened in SA with the TRC, unification can happen there just like with the fall of the Berlin wall...the unification of Palestine and Israel into a secular humane state will bring in a new age of peace, all the war hawks won't have a place to stand anymore.

Even then it won’t happen. I fear you underestimate the degree of bad-blood and the Israeli history of dealing with the treacherous enemy. If the Israeli’s did have a brainstorm and declare unilateral peace, they would last as long as it took to establish they couldn’t retaliate. Peace is out-of-the-question – the best that can be hoped for is an indefinite postponement of open hostility.
