hi all

quick question regarding how items work in heroes..

How on earth are you supposed to know what will stack vs what wont stack?

also Im a bot confused about which stats you need to get for your hero

lets take swiftblade for example,

I should buy +agil items for more damage, but then what is the point of buying +dmg items?

and pyro,

would buying +int items boost my ulti? or +dmg items boost my ulti?

soz I dont have dota experience so need some help here :o

/blank stare

well i do know that you have to think logical. (boots don't stack with boots/etc)

also, it does say "Does not stack with sdfsdf,sdsdfds,eretert,sdsdf or sdfgsdfg" in the description on the right when buying items.

usually if it's "40% chance to block damage of 30 or more", buying three of those items won't boost it to "120% chance to block damage of 30 or more" or something.

if it's "+20 DMG", buying two will usually push it to +40 DMG, since it's not a %, but an actual amount....

as for agility items vs DMG items, agility makes you faster / attack faster, where damage does just that, do more damage.

Remember that your main stat is always your best bet. The reason being is that your main stat will always increase your damage as well as whatever that stat is good for.

Strength = Health/Regen, Agility = Attack speed , Int = Mana/Regen.

Lets say im playing Pebbles, it would be more beneficial to get a Heart of the Behemoth, which gives me 35 str + 300 health. Than for instance a Ruined Axe, which gives 65dmg and 6 health regen + small aoe dmg.

Behemoths Heart:
+35 Str
->35 Dmg
->350 Health
->Health Regen
+300 Health
+0.75% Health per second, (so lets say you had 1500 health before buying it, now you have 2150 due to the bonuses. now 0.75% of that = 16 health per sec.)

Ruined Axe:
+65Dmg
+6 Health Regen
+40% dmg is splashed (AOE)
+150% mana regen.

Now the splash dmg is awesome and the mana regen is nice.

But always know that you shouldn't be wasting stats. Think about it like this, As a pebbles, you wouldn't need to use more than 3 spells in a skirmish. That works out to 120X3 mana. By the time your lvl 12 your own mana pool would be sufficient to sustain your mana usage. So the Hear gives health, Dmg and Health Regen.

Granted you dont get the cool Aoe dmg, but its sacrificed for the toughness.

Each hero has items which some poeple believe makes and breaks him. I am a big fan of Slash and Hack, people claim its a poor mans item, but its good on most classes.

For Swiftblade a lot of people like to go for +Crit dmg or even Windwalk, meaning your invis to strike when you need to. Its all very technical when you get down to the nittgritty. But for Public games, if your team is doing well, just experiment.

Also visit this site, it really is decent and you can see all the heroes and items. It also states which items are mostly used with heroes when your on a hero.

And then if your in the mood to go through endless hours of reading, check out the forums and the Guides to heroes people post. Some of them are very usefull.

This game suck! Its a bunch or retards playing the games!

I guess those "retards" keep pwning you then? :D

Yes and the worst of all. I hosted a game Noobs only! 1st gamers. So I started of my very first game when it ended with 2 kills and 11 deaths.

I get angry when pro's pick on the new guys. But I will be back. And they will beg me for mercy. I'm going to study and practice the heroes 6-12hours a day! :mad:

Gaming should be fun. But when you ALWAYS die its not fun!

LOL. I have same problem with the pro's. They all get angry with me because I am a noob.

For the fun of it when they all vote to concede, don't concede :p and then they all get even more angry with me. But I don't want mess up they profiles so eventually I do concede.

People in ZA will idol me. (maybe a bit overboard but it boosts my ego! :D)

thanks this made me LOL

I needed a LOL

Thing is you must ignore the PSR rating and look at the KD ratio

My PSR is *** but I manage to get my KD ratio up to 0.8, will be 1:1 soon!

I have found out that the PSR rating is very misleading! :erm:

Things like evasion and life steal won't stack, it will just take the value from the item with the highest %. Also read the description of the item, if it says it has an "exclusive attack modifier" then it won't stack with any other items that have exclusive attack modifiers, it will just use the most powerful one.

I suggest just sticking to the items in the "suggested" tab for your hero. Some of them might not make sense initially, but they are there for good reason.

Only certain heroes have the option to get "Staff of the Master" which improves their ultimate ability. Technically any hero could build the item, but it will only improve the ultimate ability of heroes whose descriptions say they can be improved with the staff.

Some items just work better with certain heroes than others, half the fun is finding out which. And there are always exceptions. For instance, Pebbles is a strength hero, yet I love playing him as a caster due to the fast cooldown on his stun and toss and the high amount of damage they do. So I generally go for the ring that gives mana and codex. Then I have a constant stream of mana to spam my spells and if I happen to run into a hero, I toss first, because your stun will do even more damage to a hero that has just been tossed, then I codex them for good measure. It's a fast combo of spells that can easily deal 1000+ damage at lvl 11, and if they start running just chase, your spells will be ready again within 10 seconds.
