So powercare sent me a replacement xbox for my RROD

So I sent in a non hmdi 20gb pro, and i seem to have received a non hdmi unit back, which is expected.

Now the thing is, what would the history of this unit be?
Would it have belonged to someone else back in 2006?
Would it have RROD and been sent back to MS.
How would they have fixed it, what would of been changed?
 
As long as it's working and in the same condition as yours, does it really matter?
 
I think it does...

If it matters with cars, why not consoles?
 
course it matters, the old old old xbox was garunteed to fail, now if they just fix it up all the same then this one is garunteed to fail too, if they made some reactive changes then maybe it wont!
 
I too received a replacement today, Pro with HDMI, sent in my forms on monday and got the new one today.
Thought they would first take the broken one and then send me the replacement, but they just gave me the new one and took the old one.
Anyway, I was also wondering, the console I got now, was made 2008/08 and its 16.5 Amps, now I hear the one u want is 12.5?

Refurbished unit mate. Hence the Amp rating :rolleyes:
 
So tell me, whats the downside of a refurbished console? Is this one going to die on me aswell? If it does Im giving it a drop kick out the door.
 
This is odd... I received one with HDMI when I traded mine. Its like I got a brand new one. And add that to the fact that MS committed to eventually replace all consoles with Jasper+ units. Hmm.

Anyway mate, don't bother with Powercare (or the hasbeen piece of crap before it), because my replacement console broke too. If it breaks again, send it to Maestro ZA. I can vouch his service and the time which he does it in. My Xbox has not missed a beat since. Oh and he asks a very reasonable fee.

Allot of people do.

e.g. Then buy a PS3, it dies ... get a refurb ... it dies ... wash, rinse & repeat :rolleyes:

It's random what you get from the 'after-sales support'. More recently a new unit but refurbished consoles do get dished out.

Dumb ass policy this swap out nonsense. In the long run it costs more than a proper repair. Finding a decent console repair place is tricky to find though.

Not to blow my own horn but I feel I offer one of the best repair services available in this country ... which is validated in a sense by the fact that I receive consoles from all over South Africa with very little hassles ... food for thought ;)

No-one should accept anything other than the latest version of the console as a replacement.
 
ah well , with this heat it should RROD in no time, was 38 degrees yesterday

i cant see that happening? arent you supposed to worry when you are in 60 degree range?
 
i'm talking about the general air around my duplex, its freaking hot, it must be much hotter inside the console
