My modem shows that the line is syncing.

Yet no matter which account I use (axxess express, WA prepaid or FNB connect), I just connect to the net.

Any ideas?

(Johannesburg, Rivonia area)

mine does same on my billion router from telkom yet works fine on my aztech router i bought long ago still havent figured out why it does it sometimes though

what router you using?

Is it a new line? If it is have you verified the line??

Try using the telkom guest account and see if it connects...

So line is not suspended due to late payment. You can dial, I suppose if your line syncs then the line is working

Check VPI=8 and VCI=35
If I enter the password or account incorrectly I get a PAP authentication error,
possibly ask Telkom to reset your DSLAM port

its an old line. it was working earlier this evening as well.

the router (in bridge mode) is the Mega 100WR2

agreed! same happened to me... the fault was with telkom.. when the reset the dslam port the problem was solved.

the same is happening with my mega 150wr, sometimes i have to rety up to 5 times. eventually it connects

while reseting dslam port is a very good option also try dns's 208.067.222.222 and 208.067.220.220
p.s. whats the error msg say.... if no error msg then pretty sure dns's will work

i had a scenario this week where a customer got just that!

sync but no authentication , not even on the guest account.

phoned 375375 and the person said they could NOT see that the line had sync.

Ok so i checked with another router and immediately noticed that the sync profile was wrong... 512/256 instead of 384/128.

Telkom technician pitched up...tested tested...wham...faulty DSLAM port.

They swopped the line in the SDC aswell while i stood with him for like 90min...eeeek.

After that 384/128 sync and all is well - tada

They changed my Dslam port in the exchange and it was fixed. I was offline for a week with this authentication problem

It turns out there was a problem with the Sunninghill exchange

Not sure if that was the problem
