The biggest problem is we get NOTHING for all the tax we pay, NOTHING at all.
All the years of corruption and living the high life on tax payers money is coming back to haunt guvament now and the only way to make up for it is to increase taxes..vicious circle..
Have any of you every lived elsewhere in the world?
I agree it is bad, but don't be too quick to complain until you have tried to earn a living elsewhere.
The benefits of living abroad to me, do not include my financial situation, but simple more security and less corruption.
If I was to move it would be for those reasons.

It is true - in Sweden they pay - 60% tax, as much as that, but they get free healthcare, 2 months of paid holidays per year, free education, great social services (pension, unemployment) and so on. In SA, you pay 40% (and more) and you still need to have a security company protect your home, have burglar bars/electric fences, have medical aid, have retirement annuities, pay for ESKOM/TELKOM/GOVT bonuses etc.
We get taxed nothing compared to europe and live a far better lifestyle. The "hidden" taxes like "healthcare"(medical aids) means we get healthcare for example. What a boring bunch of drama queens.
And you don't need to be a bloodhound !I smell a troll..

Should have known it won't be long until some racist loony starts posting in this thread.

Much higher. As I recall essentially a similar set of brackets, but they were allowed to creep so that as the years went by you would end up in steadily higher brackets purely from inflation-linked increases. They were also structured so an increase pushing you into a higher bracket could actually reduce your after tax income. To top it off if you were married they combined the husband and wife's income to determine your tax bracket.I was a bit young but just as matter of interest what was tax like under the old government.
I'm curious, which countries have no import duties, no road taxes, no airport taxes, no toll roads, no sales tax, no property rates and so on?
