Super5Media gets new licence for pay-TV broadcast

"those plans... in the near future".

yeah right....and telkom is going to drop ADSL line rental prices

on a second thought..i think ADSL line rental prices are a more near future happening than Super5Media launching a service

damn i am such a pessimist when it comes to ADSL and "new" services

We are talking about the Chinese here. They'll start broadcasts even if they don't have all content agreements in check.:D

does anyone still watch TV the old way? Seriously, just start downloading what you want to watch. Classic TV is for grandparents.

Seriously????? What kind of rock are you living under.

How many people in this country actually know where to download movies (Yes its true), and have the know how / equipment to watch it on the TV (cabling, DVD writing, computer??, video output), and then there is the bandwidth constraints, A fair quality TV series is about 500 megs, the 300meg ones have **** sound and quality.

OK, but to be a bit more serious, :D unless this new provider is coming in with an exceptional bouquet and a phenomenal price I don't see how they can take on the likes of DSTV.

Some of us have already moved on to downloading because of the flexibility and ease, others have given up on Paid TV as being out of their league.

These guys have a serious mountain to climb.

Have to agree, they are going to have to have a fantastic range of shows, but being backed by China means technology/money.

But lets hope DSTV will be scared and drop prices.
