Hey,
Im just not having any luck with my desktop. Following on from this thread:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=201599 I got my new hard drive and sat down to get everything setup. I plugged in my new power supply and new hard drive, switched the machine on and immediatly started smelling smoke. I switched it off quickly and went through all the connections to make sure everything was ok. I switched it on once more and saw a small spark and heard a pop from my old hard drive. GRRRR!!!
Needless to say it seems as though my old hard drive is now also a paper weight!!
Whats going on here? I guess my original idea that the power supply caused all the problems was wrong.
If I dont plug in a hard drive at all, in other words I just start the machine with my motherboard, graphics card and dvd plugged in,...everything works fine. I plug in a hard drive and there's issues.
Does anyone have any advice here?
I really hope I haven't lost all my data on my old hard drive
